Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineer III to join our innovative data services team. As a Data Engineer III within our organization, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining robust data pipelines that enable advanced analytics initiatives and support data-driven decision-making. Leveraging your strong foundation in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing, you will manage complex data engineering projects and demonstrate increased initiative in collaborating with stakeholders at various levels.
Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing scalable data architectures, ensuring the reliable ingestion and processing of large datasets, and optimizing data storage and retrieval for performance and efficiency. Furthermore, you will contribute significantly to the development and maintenance of data platforms and tools that facilitate efficient data analysis and integration. With a proven track record of advancing data engineering solutions, you will enhance our team's capabilities in managing our data ecosystem. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to impact our data architecture, refine data management practices, and foster innovation within our organization. This position will provide support to the Department of Transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops data pipelines to replicate and aggregate data in a data warehouse.
- Models data and is responsible for data acquisition and access analysis and design.
- Designs and implements archive, recovery, and load strategies.
- Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client or internal operations, applications, and programming.
- Review objectives with clients or internal users and evaluate current systems.
- Coordinates new data development, ensuring consistency and providing for integration with existing warehouse structure.
- Reviews business requests for data and data usage.
- Research data sources for new and better data feeds.
- Assists in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality.
- Coordinates testing, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data quality.
- May be responsible for preparing users by conducting training.
- Administrates Cloud platform(s).
- Trains new team members, or business users of the data platform.
- Develops, maintains, and enforces data platform best practices.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a comfortable office setting for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in an information technology field and a 2-year degree or certification in computer science, management information systems, data management or a related field.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess
- Knowledge of any data storage systems and techniques.
- Knowledge of any data transformation systems and techniques.
- Experience developing software.
- Ability to produce an accurate, timely and quality product to a customer.
- Experience providing provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Experience developing data pipelines on cloud computing platforms.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses.
- Experience analyzing business requirements.
- Experience designing solutions to a business problem.
- Experience developing alerts and monitoring for data pipelines.
- Experience delivering end-to-end solutions without support.
- Experience training others on data-engineering related skills or topics.
- Familiarity with ticketing and project management systems.
