The Data and Artificial Intelligence Platform group is a key component of Visa's Technology organization that provides the enabling technology and processes to handle Visa's data assets and deliver valuable information, products, and services to customers. Our team delivers secure, high-quality, and easy-to-use Visa core data assets as a service, together with reliable and scalable data platform as a service, to enable Visa and our partners to rapidly and efficiently innovate data-driven business products and services to lead the digital payment industry. Essential Functions:

  • As a Staff Engineer, you will assist in conducting aggregations with consideration to metadata management, GenAI use cases, contribute towards building taxonomy dependencies, and availability across products. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to both strategic and tactic planning and execution to continuously advance the platform's vision and mission. You will build tools and complex automation processes that assist in transforming, managing, accessing, deploying, and monitoring data in real time.
  • Experience in continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in mind
  • Participating in negotiations with product and business owners to determine feasibility of technical design and confirm what is needed for the roadmap to be successful.
  • Working with senior team leads, working on the technical roadmaps, working with development managers and teams to identify and resolve technical challenges, and working with different products and data science teams to streamline the feature request and model onboarding.
  • Collaborating with other teams (e.g., Product owners, business partners) to identify and clarify business requirements and determine business needs.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar field OR 4 years of experience with a master’s degree in computer science or similar field OR 3 years of experience with a PhD in Computer Science or similar field
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with experience implementing and supporting real-time systems.
  • Expert with web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC)
  • Experience in an Agile environment with good software development practices such as CI/CD, code reviews and test automation.
  • Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases like MySQL, DB2, Redis and Cassandra.
  • Expert in developing large scale, enterprise class distributed system or subsystems that require high availability, low latency, & strong data consistency computing
  • Expert with Big Data and analytics in general leveraging technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Flink and MapReduce
  • Strong experience with distributed caching technologies like Redis

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 155,300.00 to 225,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
