Our client, a large Defence supplier, is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join their team. The role will operate within a project team at a large secure government department in Cheltenham.

The client requires a minimum of 4 days/week working on site. Initial contract will be scheduled to run for 12 months with the potential for extension, and rate is up to £600/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an FCSA registered umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

This role requires candidates to hold current Enhanced DV clearance. As these are for requirements for contract resource, for early start, and due to the timescales to gain new clearances, candidates without current clearance cannot be considered on this occasion.

Main Responsibilities

A Data Analyst works under direction from the SPP (Strategic Program Practitioner who provides Business, Investment and Data Architecture guidance), and would:

  • Collate the Data Analytics Sources:  Coordination and Synchronization to ensure timely pull of data, and tight version control of resulting single truth summaries.
  • Questions and Answers:  Receive a question, ensuring proper understanding of its purpose and surrounding context.  Determine how to answer the question using ‘Single Truth’.  Provide an accurate answer that is appropriate for the requester (i.e. ensuring that sensitive data is not inappropriately shared). This may also include building of ‘dashboard’ generated reporting capabilities.
  • ‘What If’ Scenarios:  Enable forward planning and scenario optioneering through controlled adaption of ‘Single Truth’ elements to enable an informed decision to be made.
  • The Viewing Window:  Manage the visualization of use case reporting using Power BI.

Skills and Experience

A Data Analyst will need the following skills and understanding:

  • A contextual understanding of Analytic Sources of Data (within the Programme);
  • Quality of that data and the logistics as to where data is held and how/when to ‘pull it into a common area’.
  • Data modelling, and the use of data models to extract accurate, high-quality information.
  • Divisibility of Reporting categories. i.e Project, Workstreams, Business Cases etc
  • Attribution and characteristics that enable multiple views through different stakeholder lenses as required.
  • Essentially, a medium to high skill-level in MS Excel and an enthusiasm to self-develop and take those skills to higher levels.  Ideally, an advanced skill level in MS Excel, including experience of working with Power Query and Power Pivot.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas cannot be accepted.
