ABOUT YOU 

We are seeking a data-driven individual who has knowledge of scientific statistical modelling including data analytics utilising a variety of statistical and mathematical modelling techniques.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Information Technology, Maths, Science or related discipline 
  • Knowledge and experience in a scientific statistical modelling role
  • Experience with structuring, storing and cleansing data
  • Experience with scientific statistical modelling, large-scale data analysis, and machine learning with R, Python and Matlab 
  • Good communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills sufficient to lead projects
  • Good IT literacy skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good problem-identification and solving skills
  • Have commercial acumen and ability to negotiate with clients and suppliers
  • Exceptional customer focus

 

 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

The Chemometric Modeller will support the Senior Chemometric Modeller in managing day to day operation of the Chemometric Modelling team. You will lead by example, ensuring all aspects of our Quality and HSE processes are followed and will mentor the Chemometric Modelling Engineers through effective guidance, training and technical support. The key aspects of the role are data analysis of client datasets and maintaining and creating chemometric data models for new and existing InterPret projects. 

 

Key activities:

  • Assess, analyse, and implement statistical methods and chemometric modelling to meet project delivery milestones
  • Accountability for client project delivery, liaising with relevant internal stakeholders including laboratory colleagues for specific projects
  • Contribute to the improvement of existing chemometric/statistical design/processes
  • Monitor project timelines, advising Interpret Operations Manager of any deviations to plan 
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, making use of version control tools
  • Maintain high standards of chemometric/statistical scrutiny and review the work of colleagues
  • Attend and contribute to client visits and meetings as required
  • Travel to client sites as needed to assist with project implementation and staff/client training
  • Support the training of colleagues in aspects of chemometrics, statistics and data science
  • Provide expertise and delivery in statistics and data science, including, for example, study of statistical data, design of experiments, chemometric modelling and forecasting, process improvement, statistics training
  • Inspire and communicate within the InterPret team with regular pace to give clarity on direction, feedback on performance and plan to constantly improve and achieve results
  • Engage in the development of models using a clear process - Test Driven, Commented and Documented in Project Delivery Document(PDD) and Model Delivery Document(MDD)
  • Drive the delivery of training & development plans to up-skill the InterPret Modelling team – mentoring and implementing training in liaison with Lead Modeller and InterPret Operations Manager
  • Work as part of the team to focus on exceeding customer expectations
  • Deliver high standards of customer relations and service, seeking continuous improvement in a drive for excellence and be a positive company representative to customers
  • Actively engage in Intertek’s performance culture to exceed customer expectations
