The Senior Operations Research Analyst will apply operations research, mathematical modeling, and other methods to support the development, and interpretation of information to assist organizational leaders with decision-making, policy formulation, and various managerial functions.  Collects and analyzes data and develops decision support software, services, or products using the latest technology.  Leads and works with team members to conduct research studies to optimize work processes and enhance operations.

 Responsibilities:

Analysis

  • Applies knowledge of operations research, mathematics, and analytical techniques to assigned work
  • Seeks clarification of management objectives as necessary
  • Leads and works with team members to perform analyses
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of projects assigned by higher level analysts
  • Performs special research tasks designed to enhance knowledge of work processes
  • Prioritize and perform work tasks in support of projects assigned by higher level analysts
  • Assist with studies to evaluate, inform, and improve decision-analytic models
  • Applies modeling and simulation (M&S) as necessary to develop data for analysis and insights for management decisions

Communication

  • Documents problem analysis using M&S, or other decision-support systems
  • Prepares briefings and papers as necessary to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Deliver presentations to peers and customers on ideas, techniques, and results

Innovation

  • Seek and share creative solutions to problems

Technical Expertise

  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to remain current in the field

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering, or other technical degree requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics to include calculus
  • Experience in research and analysis as well as application of operations research techniques
  • 5 years or more analytic experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Federal Security clearance is required.

  • Experience within the DoD or as a Defense Contractor working as an analyst
