JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands-on IT experience in a fast-growing biotech company. As an IT Intern, you will be assisting the IT Department as an Applications IT Intern with creating and modifying IT documentation and organizing digital materials. This is a unique chance for you to garner a breadth of experience across IT (if applicable) spectrum while gaining valuable healthcare and biotechnology industry experience.

The ideal candidate will be ready to roll up their sleeves and bring their passion for IT into a fast-paced, innovative learning environment. This individual should bring energy every day and be eager to work collaboratively as we make hope a reality for patients with rare and orphan diseases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and the position will perform other duties as assigned 

• Create documentation on systems and processes for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Create and maintain incidents and service requests in the IT Service Management tool.
• Assist with IT Calendar
• Assist with organizing IT projects
• Manage and resolve technical support tickets for our client software implementations
• Facilitate effective and proactive communications with both internal and external customers
• Maintain AI Project Database
• Work with surveying other peers
• Assist with scheduling meetings
• Assist with IT Project planning and management projects
• Identify and communicate areas for improvement
• Escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• A rising junior or senior university student currently enrolled and pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
• Possess exceptional customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, and excellent phone and email etiquette
• Possess strong analytical and technical skills with ability to learn troubleshooting methods and perform root cause analysis
• Understanding of basic networking, IT systems and general knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting
• Ability to work independently
• Has strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to be flexible and adjust quickly to pick up new ideas and approaches as priorities change
• Strong working knowledge and experience with Windows 10, Office 365/Office suite in a professional corporate environment, is preferred
• Ability to understand and diagram high level relationships between systems.
• Basic understanding or awareness of IT project management styles
• Any interest in AI (Artificial Intelligence) Gen AI technology welcomed
• Python is not required, but it is considered an added plus
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and/or LLM experience is not required, but it is considered an added plus
• Must be available to work 30-35 hours/week during the period of the summer internship
• Must be in proximity to the Durham/RTP office – on-site presence may be required for meetings and intern program activities
