As a Decision Science Analyst IV, you will be a senior individual contributor on the Hagerty Data and Decision Science team. You will be part of a team planning and building a broad spectrum of data-driven decision solutions.  These solutions include self-service dynamic dashboards, statistical analyses, real time predictions and prescribed actions from embedded ML algorithms, graph algorithms, generative AI and more. You will have the opportunity to work on projects across the customer lifecycle from prospecting customers to claims and across the different Hagerty products and services. 

This role will report directly to the VP Data and Decision Science and will have a primary focus of enabling Hagerty’s strategic data and analytics transformation. This will include supporting the planning and delivery of the analytic data roadmap working with analytics leaders, data architecture, data engineering, and the analyst user community. You will be responsible for assessing BI and analytic tools to meet changing analyst and business needs, and training analysts on these tools. This will be a highly visible and influential role interacting with analytic, engineering, and business teams.

What you’ll do

  • Apply appropriate scientific and quantitative data methods to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive appropriate change.   You will be responsible for communicating findings effectively to less technical audiences incorporating visualization techniques. 
  • Identify, gather, and enrich data to design and develop measures, metrics, features, and complex data sets for AI/ML, business intelligence, and other analytic projects. 
  • Actively contribute, in collaboration with engineering, analytics, and business teams, to the planning and execution of the enterprise data roadmap.  This will involve identifying data gaps and defining the needed sources, transformations, business rules, and other requirements. 
  • Plan, design, develop, and deploy self-service business intelligence solutions that provide transparency and increased decision-making capacity to the business. 
  • Write high quality code to query, transform, combine, analyze, and visualize data.
  •  Prepare data for productionalization, exhibiting strong aptitude in multiple languages and following best practices including debugging, versioning, documentation, and peer review. 
  • Design data and analytic solutions to solve ambiguous and hypothetical business problems. 
  • Take reasonable measures to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness of data and method of analysis for the task, pursue problem identification and recommend solutions. 
  • Support Hagerty by delivering your own work aligned to specific operational goals and have direct impact on achievement of results by others within your work area. 
  • Make decisions that typically have an impact on your team’s results.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to more junior analysts as they learn about standard processes and systems. 

This might describe you

  • Bachelor's or higher degree. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Strong experience with a broad range of data from the insurance or financial services industry including policy, billing, claims, contact, employee is highly desired.  
  • Advanced knowledge and skills using statistical methods to derive insights from data, preparing model-ready data sets for use in AI/ML models, and interpreting the results of AI/ML models. 
  • Previous industry experience with deploying a wide range of self-service BI solutions for business users using modern BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc. 
  • Advanced knowledge and skills using SQL, and R or Python to query, combine, transform, visualize, and analyze data.  
  • Experience with Snowflake is highly preferred.  
  • Possess strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills. 
  • Effectively present complex technical topics to non-technical and technical audiences at all levels.

  • This role can be worked from any U.S. remote location. 
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
