As a Software QE Manager within AIML, you will be part of a team creating new and innovative experiences for human interaction with generative AI. Your team will be testing prototype and production-level apps, frameworks, and daemons on Apple internal iOS platforms to build cutting-edge experiences. This position requires a talented Software QE Manager to realize that mission by expanding the capabilities of Apple products and platforms and helping to ensure our experiences are rock-solid and customer-focused. We work in a fast paced, startup-like environment and you and your team will be part of every stage of development working cross-functionally with other QE, software, user interface designer, Project Management, and Machine Learning teams from concept phase to deployment. We are seeking a strong leader who can partner with senior leadership and other teams to drive experiences from product definition to release. The successful candidate will build and lead a highly talented, diverse QA & QE team of experienced and thoughtful engineers to enable industry leading customer experiences.

Description


This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical, communication, people management, and project management skills. You’ll need to be self-directed, creative, and comfortable with change and ambiguity. Responsibilities include: - Leading, mentoring, and hiring independent, highly effective quality engineers - Help deliver new experiences across Apple platforms that meet or exceed our high standards for quality - Overseeing development of comprehensive feature test plans - Work creatively and efficiently to test complex experiences with significant iteration under complex and condensed schedules - Accurately scoping the effort and work items required to complete large feature project and assisting direct reports in proper scoping and prioritization of testing deliverables - Representing the team in technical and project meetings while evangelizing our values - Partnering with engineering managers to ensure features are designed for testability - Balance carefully being in the details with smart delegation. Mentor your team and instill detail-oriented critical thinking - Spot problems before they occur and proactively engage your colleagues to solve them together - Defend and empower your QE team, working to fix broken tools or processes and instilling a respectful, high-achieving team culture

Minimum Qualifications


  • At least 5 years of experience working in Software Quality Assurance, two of which are in management role
  • Track record demonstrating the ability to build and lead a diverse and strong team – hiring, mentoring, motivating, supporting and elevating the performance of a team, caring for and encouraging professional growth and development of their employees
  • Passion for and prior experience testing customer focused user interfaces, starting from first principles and at the final stages obsessing over the details
  • Successful track record of testing and shipping high quality apps or frameworks
  • Superb analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to understand and break down large features into manageable pieces
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Superb interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and strategic planning skills, ability to manage resources effectively, represent the team and remove hurdles to enable each team member to operate at the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
  • Proficiency with iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS or similar operating systems
  • Curiosity about new technologies, flexibility, and openness to ambiguity
  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • While the following skills aren’t required, knowledge of one or more of these areas would be valuable:
  • Familiarity with AI principles and Foundation Models
  • Track record of working cross-functionally and building strong partnerships amongst teams and individuals
  • Experience with Data Analysis and Visualization Tools such as Tableau


Pay & Benefits


  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $173,100 and $301,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
