Data Analyst

Role Summary

MyCSP Data Solutions is looking for a Data Analyst to join our growing team. Data and Solutions are responsible for supporting MyCSP and its client to delivering outstanding service to members through maintaining high quality data and delivering in depth analysis and insightful reporting.

This individual will be an analytical thinker and a natural problem solver with a range of technical skills to enable effective analysis, interpretation and reporting of our member and business data.

You’ll contribute towards the development of our data strategy and assist our journey to managing data and our services in a more digitised and automated way.

Business Function

MyCSP Data Solutions form part of our EQ wider Data Solutions team.  The team are responsible for data analysis and cleanse, remediation activity and as well as insightful reporting across our client base.

Main Purpose of Job

  • Support the business and client resolve complex data issues by utilising advanced technical methodologies and problem-solving skills, ensuring no stone is left unturned.
  • Contribute towards the increased use of automated approaches to managing data and reporting to reduce the resource overheads associated with manual spreadsheet-based working.
  • Support business decision making though exploring business questions using data analysis and visualisation, leading to clear and concise actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Support wider data strategy and departmental priorities, ensuring contractual and project responsibilities are met.
  • Drive improvements across the full data journey from the way its captured, held and utilised to continuously improve data standards to allow members to receive a high level of service.
  • Maintenance of data within the department, as well as checking the integrity of customer data
  • Provision of technical data guidance on interface files and end to end processes within the Pensions Administration System across all departments
  • Pro-actively investigate and resolve potential data discrepancies in line with for example, tPR and other regulatory guidance
  • Identify impact of data quality issues on wider business and members and work with stakeholders to ensure data improvement activities support delivery of holistic solutions
  • Identify and implement process improvements in immediate area of work responsibility in order to improve throughput and customer service
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on all aspects of work and on more complex issues and problems that are outside the established guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Contributes to the achievement of the departmental budget target
  • Ensure quality objectives are understood, communicated and adhered to
  • Maintain an awareness of other business activities and work flexibly across the organisation
  • Ad-hoc activities as determined by Head of Data and Reporting

Core Duties/Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for data quality across a number of projects/initiatives, managing time and approach to ensure on track delivery.
  • Problem solve to understand root causes of problems, define approaches to combat issues.
  • Present data and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work independently and as part of a team of technical experts to ensure the most efficient, cost-effective and automated approach is identified.
  • Write and translate complex business requirements, ensuring high levels of attention to detail.
  • Contribute to wider department objectives and priorities.
  • Desire to take responsibility for personal development of self and other to assist the increase in capabilities across the team and department.
  • Proactively develop and maintain strong trusting relationships with stakeholders.

Skills & Knowledge and Qualification

Essential

  • SQL report writing-recognised professional course and significant practical experience.
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Experience using Excel and other Microsoft tools.
  • Pensions experience
  • Strong stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Advanced programming such as Python, SAS, C# or similar.
  • Visualisation tool kits such as SSPS, Power BI
  • Database/Data Warehousing.
