Data Scientist

The NYP data science team works on data-driven improvements to clinical operations, and on clinical research, collaborating with physicians and researchers from Weill Cornell Medical College and Columbia Doctors. Our rich historical data sets of EMR, imaging, and deep clinical experience from the medical schools enable transformational improvements in the way we serve our patients, and leading medical research to diagnose and treat medical conditions better.

In this role, the Data Scientist will collaborates with multiple stakeholders to develop predictive models, statistical analysis, data reports and key metrics. Performs analysis of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and/or complex problems using advanced statistical techniques, mathematical analyses and knowledge of the organization and/or industry.

Preferred Criteria

  • Graduate degree in Biomedical Informatics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Statistics, or Biometrics

  • Previous related and/or applicable experience designing and implementing qualitative research methods, including surveys and focus groups

  • ArcGIS or similar mapping software

  • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (Epic, All scripts, etc.)

  • Experience with Python, C++, Java or other general-purpose coding software

  • Experience working with Tableau or other business intelligence / data viz tools

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Informatics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Statistics, or Biometrics or equivalent experience

  • Python, R, SQL, SAS, SPSS, Stata or similar software for statistical analysis and data science

  • Experience working with large data sets and third party survey tools, ensuring the integrity of the data

  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage diverse partners

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and analytic skills in English required; fluency in Spanish or another language strongly desired

  • Must have knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to assigned department’s goals and objectives

  • Experience with statistical packages for machine learning, e.g. scikit-learn, xgboost, LightGBM, PyTorch, TensorFlo

$74,000-$111,000/Annual
