General description

The Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for administering the state’s unclaimed property program and returning abandoned property to its rightful owners.

 

To accomplish this objective, division staff receives and processes property reports from holders; provides information and assistance to claimants; verifies and processes claims, evaluates data for system implementation and manages the contract audit and voluntary disclosure programs. Owner outreach efforts include posting available properties on two online searchable databases (ClaimItTexas.gov and Missingmoney.com) and owner notice mailings.

 

This position will be responsible for producing complex reports routinely requested of the division by agency leadership and the public.

 

This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.

 

Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

 

Preferred Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience (within the last five years) in developing queries, analyzing data, compilation and/or reporting work.

·        Two (2) years of experience performing regression and/or user acceptance testing, developing system requirements or creating ad-hoc reports.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience using unclaimed property system database and tables to produce reports or queries.
  • Experience writing queries using SQL and/or QMF.
  • Experience in system design, testing and data conversion.

 

Substitution:

  • One additional year of full-time minimum experience as stated above may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).

 

In this role you will:

·        Train on and become proficient in extracting information and producing reports from the unclaimed property system. Oversee unclaimed property data studies and prepares reports that include study findings, recommendations, and instructions for proposed system changes. Formulate logical description of problems; and devises and sees approved plans through implementation. Perform queries for management and the public.

·        Perform acceptance system tests and generates queries to assist users in determining results. Serve as back-up division liaison with ITD program staff and Open Records Division staff. Review public information requests and determines the information needed to respond to the request. Participate in special projects as assigned.

·        Confirm that automated system jobs run successfully. Troubleshoot TINS and USAS file errors. Work with Revenue Accounting staff to identify and correct payment problems related to automated interfaces.
