Quantitative Business Associate, Assurant-GCC, India

The Quantitative Business Associate supports actuaries and business partners within four functional workstreams; product development, financial analysis, forecasting, and management reporting including ad-hoc research. To deliver on commitments, this role focuses on introducing technical tools to user groups, implementing and maintaining databases, and/or utilizing analytical techniques to solve large scale business problems.

This role is required to independently complete standard to complex projects that are deadline driven and impact the performance of Assurant’s products and services. The Quantitative Business Associate generally reports to a Lead, Supervisor or Manager in the Actuarial department.

This position will have a Remote Working.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Define scope of analysis and build framework (40%)

  • Collaborates with stakeholders and business partners to discover gaps and issues in business processes including issues where source system data doesn’t reconcile to the financial ledger
  • Partners with various teams in identifying optimal business solutions through data, systems, and technical tools including performing QA on Data Services solutions and triaging issues with Data Services

Analyze business issues through data and technology (40%)

  • Develops global data marts and databases for modeling, maintains data governance for data mart and enhances the data.
  • Evaluates various programming languages and tools to mine the data.

Drive Change (20%)

  • Implements data models into business processes. Effectively communicates and presents results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Creates governance and best practices for data models.
  • Implements and leads training for technical tools and programs (e.g., R, Python, SQL, etc.).
  • Provides advice and recommend solutions to actuaries on how to use the Data Warehouse

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science/Analytics, Information Science, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications, especially Excel, and PowerBI.
  • Advanced to Expert proficiency to various data repository applications (SQL/etc.)
  • Exposure to Transact-SQL

What other the Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge?

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • Basic knowledge of version controls using Git

What other the Other Requirements?

  • Experience in managing and manipulating large, complex datasets and techniques to build models that have driven company decision making
  • Addresses conflict on a timely basis, avoiding issues to prolong and affect working relationships or goals. Discusses resolution alternatives with manager prior to engagement.
  • Demonstrates cordial, clear, and concise writing abilities through various forms of media related to technical and non-technical topics.
