Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal 

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop automated solutions that address specific analytical objectives and facilitate report generation and distribution of analyses.

  • Advanced SQL skills and ability to optimise database queries for performance and understanding of database structure.

  • Collaborate with analytics team and business users to identify requirements and develop data products that meet their needs.

  • Experience with a major programming language (e.g. SAS, python) and ability to learn other programming languages.

  • Experience writing and supporting reports using software such as PowerBI or Tableau.

  • Ability to proactively identify issues and either resolve or escalate to the appropriate level for resolution.

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines to serve applications and stakeholders.

  • Identify areas to enhance data processing and optimize workflows.

  • Establish and maintain data quality checks and verifications to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.

  • Provide consulting on programming best practice, reporting tools, data management and data visualization to junior team members and engineers.

  • Independently manages multiple projects working with stakeholders to define business timelines and objectives.

  • Highly effective in presenting and communicating technical content to lay audiences is required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a quantitative field (i.e. Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software engineering etc.) preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.

  • Experience with AWS cloud services preferred

  • Proficient in a programming language such as python, R, SAS, JMP or similar.

  • Experience with relational databases (for example: Oracle Databases, SQL, Microsoft Access, etc.).
