Database Engineer

RGi is seeking a Database Engineer with experience in database performance optimization, configuration management, and performance testing to support our ongoing efforts to improve and maintain efficient database systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our databases, helping us to identify inefficiencies, optimize configurations, and introduce performance testing practices to prevent regressions.
Reinventing Geospatial (RGi) is a leading geospatial expert working with Defense, Intelligence, and Federal clients to achieve mission success and solutions for varied mission-critical programs. Projects at RGi span a wide range of software and analytical methodologies and lie at the intersection of software development and geospatial intelligence. We work with soldiers and geospatial analysts to produce solutions that allow them to develop better situational understanding of complex operational pictures. We do everything from data collection to UI/UX development and advanced deep learning, using a broad toolset including Python, C#, and ArcGIS. Our projects include cutting-edge R&D efforts, as well as large mission programs incorporating data processing/optimization, data dissemination techniques, visualization, and collaboration across the commercial and government sectors. 
Clearance:Active Top Secret clearance with an ability to obtain SCI access and willingness to obtain CI PolygraphUS Citizenship required

As a Database Engineer you will...

• Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving inefficiencies.
• Ensure database configurations are properly managed through configuration management (CM) practices.
• Implement and manage performance testing tools, such as JMeter or alternatives, to prevent performance regressions.
• Collaborate with software and system engineers to ensure optimal integration and performance of the database systems.
• Support proactive database performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Database Engineer Qualifications:

• Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to pass a CI Polygraph.
• Ability to work in both classified and unclassified environments on location 5 days a week in Herndon VA or Melbourne FL.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related discipline (4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree).
• 5+ years of experience in database engineering, database performance optimization, and configuration management.  
• Strong understanding of database technologies and systems.
• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or similar alternatives.
• Experience with version control systems for managing database configurations.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Postgres, Mongo databases, Liquibase and SQL queries
• Experience with Java, SpringBoot, and Hibernate

Additional Skills We'd Like to See:

• Experience with automated testing.
• Proficient in identifying database inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions.
• Understanding of regression testing and performance monitoring tools.
