Job Description

Are you curious, motivated, and forward-thinking? At FIS you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and relevant issues in financial services and technology. Our talented people empower us, and we believe in being part of a team that is open, collaborative, entrepreneurial, passionate and above all fun.

About the team

FIS is a global leader in financial services technology, providing innovative solutions to the world's largest financial institutions. Our Enterprise Data and AI organization is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge insights and predictions that drive business success for our clients.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the Vice President of Data Engineering and Governance for our Enterprise Data and AI organization. This role will be critical to our data democratization initiative at FIS.

What you will be doing

As the VP, of Data Engineering & Governance you will oversee the design and delivery of a multi-petabyte data environment that adheres to the strictest data security standards while enabling frictionless discovery and access to authorized internal and external users and systems.

Key responsibilities include:
•    Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the strategy for delivering a new data and AI platform for the company that supports the broadest range of data and AI use cases in support of our corporate and lines of business stakeholders.
•    Data Engineering: Responsible for setting the standards and overall approach to data pipelines, formats, encryption, tokenization, naming conventions, hygiene, curation steps, lineage and cataloguing in support of the work streams performed by the various teams within the group: data ingestion, data democratization & governance, machine learning and GenAI, data warehousing, BI reporting, and data sharing.
•    Data Governance: Ensure that the data environment remains in compliance with the latest corporate, legal, regulatory and international standards for data protection and privacy including, but not limited to, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
•    Data Democratization: Responsible for setting the standards and overall approach to data pipelines, formats, naming conventions and the enterprise data and model asset catalogue(s). Engineer the ability to create data assets (files, notebooks, features, models, etc.) on-demand and share those data assets to other environments within the FIS data ecosystem — including secondary clouds — in the most cost-effective way and with the potential to set time-to-live (TTL) parameters.
•    Customer Core: Design and implement a new customer core for all customer/consumer related data that enables the creation of consumer/customer/segment/industry insights via data, machine learning and GenAI models. Responsible for securing, tokenizing, masking and anonymizing data at scale while reducing the scope and attack surface for various regulatory and compliance reviews and audits.
•    Objectives and Key Results (OKRs): Determine the key metrics for measuring the success of the data ingestion strategy and the overall consumption and usage of data in the new data platform. Flag emerging issues early in order to keep the team on track.
•    Vendor Relationships: Serve as the technical lead for vendor relationships affecting our data engineering and democratization capabilities.
•    Stakeholder Influence: Navigate complex business and technical organizational structures, influencing key internal and external stakeholders at the SVP, EVP, and C-suite levels to drive alignment and success.

What you bring

•    Experience: Proven track record in a senior leadership role within the data, AI, and technology sectors, preferably within the financial services industry, with experience in managing engineering delivery teams and providing developer tools for working with data security, curation and cataloguing.
•    Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving high performance and achieving strategic goals.
•    Stakeholder Management: Exceptional skills in influencing and managing relationships with senior executives, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
•    Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of data and AI space and how it is evolving to support the auto-detection and remediation of PII, PCI and other sensitive data.
•    Education: Advanced degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field is preferred.

What we offer you

•    A multifaceted job with a high degree of responsibility and a broad spectrum of opportunities
•    A modern, international work environment and a dedicated and motivated team
•    A variety of career development tools, resources and opportunities
•    The chance to work on some of the most challenging, relevant issues in financial services & technology
