Wagestream is on a mission to bring better financial wellbeing to frontline workers.

We partner with some of the world’s most famous employers, like Bupa, Green King, Burger King and the NHS, to give their teams access to fairer financial services - all built around flexible pay. Over three million people can now choose how often they’re paid, track their shifts and earnings, start saving, use budgeting tools, get free financial coaching, and access fairer financial products. All in one financial wellbeing super-app.

Wagestream is unique: VC-backed and growing at scale-up pace, but with a social conscience. Some of the world's leading financial charities and impact funds were our founding investors, and we operate on a social charter - which means every product we build has to improve financial health and reduce the $5.6bn ‘premium’ lower-income earners pay for financial services each year.

You’d be joining a team of over 200 passionate, ambitious people, across Europe and the USA, building a category-leading fintech product and all united by that same mission.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for Senior Analytics Engineer to join one of our fastest growing functions within the regulated side of our business. In this role you will take the lead on transforming raw data into data products for your domain, owning pipelines, testing and data quality, whilst working in a close feedback loop with engineers. At times there will be a need to support stakeholders with complex analysis however this is not a Data Analyst role, and requires strong skills in data modelling.

Our current stack is simple: Snowflake for data warehousing, dbt/git for analytical engineering, Tableau/Redash for data visualisation, R/Python for statistical analysis, PostgreSQL on AWS for production data

What will you be doing?

  • Design and develop scalable data products that support analytics and decision-making within and outside your domain, primarily using dbt and Snowflake.
  • Ensure data integrity and quality through rigorous testing and validation processes.
  • Support the development of complex analytics, helping senior business stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand and then execute on short and long term data requirements.
  • Continuously enhance pipelines and aggregation processes to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work with Data Engineer and Data Scientist peers across the business to drive best practices for all of Wagestream
  • Collaborate closely with Engineers to ensure OLTP and OLAP data models are architected in a simple and effective manner

What experience might you have?

  • Significant experience in SQL, dbt (or similar) and data modelling - a bonus if this is within a consumer finance or regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable data products.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and at a fast pace
  • Ability to convey data/analytics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Awareness of good data governance practises and GDPR.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Some understanding of OLTP databases and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience working alongside Data Scientists to build and train models.

Working policy: We operate a hybrid policy; you’ll be in our beautiful London office 2-3 days a week, with flexibility to work from home.
