Position Summary 

Rekor’s Systems Engineer will design, implement, and optimize systems that combine cutting-edge technology with advanced data analytics to support our customer traffic management and law enforcement product solutions.

The Contribution: Create a system and module level block diagrams.

• Collaborate with the support team to maintain and troubleshoot customer issues.
• Support field deployments, including on-site setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
• Prepare the product reports collecting, analyzing, and summarizing systems information and trends.
• Ensure equipment remains operational at all times coordinating maintenance and repair services; follow manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; request special services.
• Write and update internal and external user documentation for Rekor products.
• Create and execute test plans for hardware, software and system level validation; includes yet not limited to  testing outside of the office environment.
• Development and support of factory test environments for system-level testing.
• Proactively investigate failure root causes and recommend actions to enhance system and equipment reliability. Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, 
• adjusting and improvements as necessary.
• Document all work clearly using work tracking tools.

You bring to the organization the following competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) strongly preferred in Engineering (Systems or Electrical) ,  Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of applicable systems engineering experience.
• Proficiency in system architecture and hardware/software integration.
• Experience with Linux, especially Ubuntu distribution.
• Comfortable to perform hands on experience with using lab equipment, to include electronic loads, oscilloscope, power supplies, etc.
• Passion for developing new revolutionary products and technologies
• Rapid Prototyping.
• Ability to understand product manuals and data sheets.

• Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems. 
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite

• Video camera experience a plus.
• Familiarity with IoT technologies and edge computing concepts is a plus.

• Geo: Columbia - MD

Travel requirement: 10% domestic 

Preferred Familiarity Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of the following:

• 3-D Modeling and Printing.
• Programming knowledge: Python, Shell scripting.
• Computer hardware knowledge, including networking.
• Electronics and circuit design and simulators.
• Experience with machine learning for data analytics.
• Knowledge of h traffic management systems or law enforcement applications is a big plus.
