Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Enjins
Do you want to shape the future of AI in climate tech and mobility? Are you driven to inspire and develop talented ML engineers across Utrecht and Berlin? Do you thrive as the "go-to" leader for tackling complex AI challenges? Join us as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Enjins!

About Enjins
Enjins is a leading AI and data engineering company for tech companies and venture capital, delivering real impact through custom AI solutions and modern data architectures. With hubs in Utrecht and Berlin, we empower our ML engineers to design, develop, and deploy impactful AI systems in climate tech, mobility, and marketplaces. Now, to keep pushing boundaries and ensure top technical quality across our projects, we’re welcoming a CTO to our team.

We apply a software engineering mindset to AI, ensuring that every solution goes live and delivers measurable impact. Working hand-in-hand with our customers in blended teams, we craft valuable ML solutions together. As CTO, you will oversee both our project quality and internal innovation programs.

What You’ll Be Doing
As our CTO, you’ll be Enjins’ technical visionary—shaping our AI strategy both internally and externally. You’ll ensure technical excellence in our projects, steer innovation, and drive a robust training agenda, impacting both Enjins and our clients. You’ll be a member of the management team, serving as the “technical conscience” of Enjins, aligning technical decisions with our mission, quality standards, and long-term vision.

This role is built for innovation, with plenty of room for your ideas. As we grow, so will your influence and opportunity to make a difference. We value proactive leaders who take full ownership, and if this sounds like you, we’d love to meet!

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited too:

  • Define and execute our (technical) vision for AI in climate, mobility, and marketplaces, both internally and externally.
  • Act as the trusted technical strategic advisor for our team.
  • Develop and uphold quality standards across the company (peer reviews, conventions, etc.).
  • Serve as a strategic technical advisor for key clients and contribute as an account manager, data/ML architect, and technical challenger.
  • Mentor our team on ML/AI architectures, blueprints, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Oversee our Machine Learning Engineer Acceleration Program (M-Leap) to nurture talent development.
  • Manage technical risks, including security, privacy, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with our COO to grow our team of AI engineers.
  • Foster client success through a peer-to-peer understanding of their strategy, objectives, and technology.
  • Creating a strategy for technical grants, and overseeing applications and project execution.
  • Managing and building technical partnerships to grow our footprint.

Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience in roles bridging AI, ML, and software engineering.

  • Proven experience as CTO, Head of AI, Head of Data, or ML/AI team lead.
  • Track record of coaching, leading, and challenging high-performing technical teams.
  • Ability to anticipate tech trends and develop strategies that keep the company ahead.
  • Strong leadership and entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on technical background.
  • Proven experience in designing and scaling complex systems, especially relevant to the company’s domain (e.g., cloud-based systems, AI systems, data-models).
  • Strong command of development practices and tools: familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development processes.
  • Extensive experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure): Proven hands-on experience with at least one or more of the major cloud providers, with a strong understanding of their unique services, strengths, and limitations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with managing risks related to technology (i.e. security, GDPR, EU AI Act, etc).

Preferred Qualifications
It would be great if you also bring:

  • Experience with technical partnerships (i.e. cloud partners, product partners).
  • Ideally, a network that includes other tech leaders, potential partners, customers and talent relevant for Enjins.
  • Eagerness to represent our technical vision externally.

Benefits

We’re looking for a CTO who’s excited about the journey of building a high-quality AI engineering brand focused on climate tech and meaningful innovation. Expect freedom in your role, and benefits like:

  • A beautiful office in Utrecht’s city center on the Oudegracht.
  • Hybrid working setup, with a team that works in office >50% of their week to learn from each other.
