The Office of Student Experience & Wellbeing's (OSEW) mission is to support the academic and personal success of U of T Scarborough students. As the Data Analyst, you will report to the Manager, Budget and Operations and provide support in maintaining, compiling and reporting on various data series to inform evidence-based decision-making and support strategic and operational initiatives. Specifically, you will create and run queries to support the data needs of management; create custom reports to inform key decision-makers; assist in creating and implementing metrics framework for evaluating program outcomes and success and create different types of dashboards to inform key decision-makers, using a variety of data analytical tools.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Updating and maintaining database records and running queries to gather data
  • Producing complex statistical information and generating statistical graphics from existing statistics
  • Developing and maintaining a dashboard for quick access to key performance indicators
  • Probing for information to determine requirements for ad hoc data requests
  • Generating data quality reports
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
  • Formatting data collected for presentations and reports
  • Analyzing metrics to identify trends

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, or related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience with data management and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with analyzing large datasets, preparing statistics, reporting on trends and explaining complex correlations of data and results
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of relational databases; data query tools such as MS Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, SPSS, or other similar tools; advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills, intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members
  • Ability to clearly convey and present complex information both orally and in writing to a variety of individuals with varying levels of technical understanding
