PhD Student multi modal diffusion models (f/m/d)
Wolfsburg, DE, 38436
Work environment
As part of Volkswagen Group Innovation, our team focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) & data analytics tasks in the development of digital services for different Volkswagen Group brands. This includes processing and analyzing vehicle data and integrating AI into digitized vehicles. The project aims to develop AI-based methods for generating multi-modal synthetic data to be used in the testing, validation, and training of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Self-Driving Systems (SDS). This involves creating consistent data across various sensors like cameras, LIDAR, and Radar, leveraging multimodal diffusion techniques.
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Undertaking a PhD in the research area “Multi Modal Diffusion Models,” focusing on generative AI for ADAS and Autonomous Driving (AD) systems
- Training of models to enable the generation of multi-modal data sequences such as consistent images with Radar and LIDAR within a prototypical developed framework that can be used for testing and training autonomous driving systems
- Testing and validating the framework within real-world settings together with various brands
- Investigating such methods and publishing selected results at scientific conferences or in professional journals
The final doctoral topic is defined together with the professor. The prerequisite for the cooperation is the confirmation of supervision as well as a confirmed delimitation of topics by the professor of a university or research institution entitled to confer a doctorate.
Qualification requirements
- Good to very good university degree with eligibility for a doctorate in computer science, robotics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or comparable courses
- Good knowledge of programming with Python, C++
- Profound knowledge in machine learning (ML) and in ML frameworks such as PyTorch
- English level B2
- EU driving license (passenger car)
What we offer
- Attractive salary & 30 vacation days (+ 24.12. and 31.12. off)
- 35-hour week, flexible working hours, remote work
- Special conditions for the purchase and leasing of vehicles
