The Fulfillment tech family is one of the pillars ensuring Grab to out-serve our customers and partners in different businesses and marketplaces across Southeast Asia. We are working on high throughput, real-time distributed systems that use machine learning techniques to solve hundreds of millions of requests per day. We are a distributed team in 4 locations: Singapore, Beijing, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Our communication is in English, both in spoken and written form.

Our mission is to offer the best products and experiences to our driver partners as to increase adoption and engagement of our services. Improve driver partner opportunities and efficiency to fulfill customer orders without fail, rain or shine. And to create efficient marketplaces by determining a price that is both sustainable and loved by our partners and customers.

The Machine Learning Engineer position is a very rewarding role where every code that you string, every model you build, push out and implement instantly impacts millions of people across Southeast Asia. Reporting to our Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will bring experiences in big data processing, data analytics, and machine learning to work on our massive production scale, and also experience an elegant products running on world-class technologies that bring our unique On-Demand Transport and Delivery experience to millions of people, anytime and anywhere. This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You will Perform:

• You will design, develop, and implement automation solutions that improve the efficiency of different processes, using your expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and engineering knowledge.
• You will collaborate with the Data Science and Software Engineering teams to identify areas of automation and optimization within our systems, with a focus on operational efficiency and reducing manual interventions.
• You will lead automation projects aimed at complex system fine-tuning with market change, applying data-driven techniques to bring growth in the automated system.
• You will work with different stakeholders to define project goals and deliverables, ensuring that the automation projects align with the goals.
• You will stay up to date with industry trends, latest technologies, and best practices in machine learning, optimization techniques, data analysis, and generative AI, and bring new ideas and innovations to the team.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You will Need:

• At least 1 year of experience in software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or similar fields.
• Computer Science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and at least one backend language like Go, Scala, Java, C++, or others
• Proficiency in data processing frameworks such as Spark or Flink
• Proficiency in ML and DL frameworks such as XGBoost or Pytorch
• Understanding of optimization concepts and techniques, with experience in applying optimization methods to improve system performance.
• Experience with large-scale systems and DevOps best practices such as CI/CD
