The Team

The Business Intelligence and Analytics team's purpose is to improve business decisions by providing all necessary information to all sectors (Management, Finance, Sales, Risk etc) using data gathered both internally and externally.

The team consists of highly expertised data and software engineers who, using Cloud technologies, build ETL Pipelines using all data source, transform and load it to Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Big Data & SQl databases. Data is processed with computation jobs and ingested for application consumption of Data Visualizations.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our BI Reconciliation team, specializing in reconciling financial and transactional data between Viva's internal financial records and external data sources.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines to ensure accurate and efficient reconciliation across multiple systems. You will identify discrepancies, investigate and resolve mismatches, and ensure data consistency and integrity throughout the process.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SQL, ETL processes, and fluency in programming languages such as Python or similar to build and optimize data workflows. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), data warehousing solutions, and distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) is a plus. You will also collaborate with the BI team to automate reconciliation reports and provide insights to support regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to support the reconciliation of financial and transactional data between Viva’s internal systems and external sources.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and consistency across multiple data sources.
  • Design and implement ETL processes to automate data workflows and streamline reconciliation tasks.
  • Collaborate with the BI team to generate reconciliation reports, track key metrics, and provide actionable insights.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to optimize reconciliation processes and improve data quality and integrity.
  • Implement and manage cloud-based data solutions and distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) to support large-scale data operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards by maintaining accurate and up-to-date data records.
  • Continuously improve reconciliation systems, incorporating feedback and refining processes for greater efficiency.
  • Perform tasks in an efficient & timely manner.
  • Continually advance technical knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with SQL and database management, including data querying and optimization.
  • Proficiency in ETL tools and processes for building and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Programming skills in Python or other programming language for developing automated workflows and data processing tasks.
  • Experience with financial data reconciliation processes is highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to financial data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • The ability to perform in a team environment and share knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical and good problem-solving skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.

The following will be considered a plus:

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions and distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark).
  • Cloud Data Warehouses (Azure Data Warehouse).
  • Streaming Platforms (both on premise or cloud, like Apache Kafka, Azure EventHub).
  • Data Visualization / Reporting tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of agile methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
  • AI and Machine Learning Modeling tools.
