Job Description

Work Arrangement

This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Warren, Michigan, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Strategic Partnerships Principal on our Product Partnerships team responsible for recruiting and cultivating GM's automotive, digital platform ecosystem for Infotainment.  This will include building, negotiating, and formalizing win-win, partner relationships with target players across both new and existing digital domains. 

Collaborating with our partners you will drive both innovation and a reimagination of automotive as an immersive, purpose-built platform for digital experiences.  In alignment and collaboration with leadership teams, you will deliver 3rd Party partnerships, that position GM as a platform innovator. You are technical by nature, with an innate ability to both translate between technical and business teams and drive creative solutions to technical problems. You will collaborate with GM technical leadership to ensure a continuous feedback loop with our partners, who drives technical innovation core to our platform strategy for a given domain. 

What You’ll Do

  • Identify, develop, and cultivate new partnerships in key digital domains that will shape the future of automotive as a platform e.g., new capabilities, products and/or commercial models!

  • Structure and negotiate first-of-kind and program-specific deals for product enablement partnerships with an evolving target list of Infotainment partners.

  • Collaborate closely with Software & Services, Product, Engineering, Legal, Marketing, and other cross-functional partnership teams to develop and execute our strategy.

  • Understand our partners’ key priorities, challenges, and internal roadmaps; regularly communicate insights and recommendations to the Digital Business and technical teams!

  • Be the domain expert - Develop strategic perspectives based on market insights across automotive and other relevant spaces for a given digital domain, actively contributing a POV to our product strategy.

  • Embody the voice of the partner - Represent and advocate for partner needs and viewpoints within GM organization to proactively evolve our product strategy and roadmap.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Collaboration and relationship-building experience - with the experience developing working relationships at all levels of management.

  • At least 5 years in a strategic technology partnerships or business development function at a leading digital product and/or digital platform company

  • Direct experience successfully building and cultivating digital partner ecosystems.

  • Effective, creative, and data-driven storytelling capabilities

  • Proactive, solution-oriented problem solver with "what would it take" mindset.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to orchestrate and successfully complete deals and programs.

  • Experience working with product to define product strategy and product requirements.

  • Experience negotiating complex agreements and finding win-win solutions.

  • Experience co-creating innovative new offerings in collaboration with partners.

  • High level of enthusiasm and innovation with experience to adapt easily to change and multitask.

  • Interpersonal skills and experience developing working relationships inside and outside the company.

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time to our Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan location.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or related area

  • Previous experience with video/media partners, technologies, and distribution.

  • Previous experience with Android technologies, and requirements.

  • Previous experience with emerging platform space (AR/VR/MR, IoT, AI, ML, etc.).

  • Previous experience managing relationships across international geographies.

  • A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $108,400 to $169,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
