Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Who we need
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our dynamic Data Solutions team at Securian Canada. We need a strategic thinker who will excel in data analytics, dashboard creation, and use of cloud-based platforms including AWS as well as data visualization tools including Tableau. You will also have a strong background in migrating legacy reports to tableau environment, developing insightful dashboards and conducting in-depth analysis to drive business decisions.
You will be accountable and also will be the owner of the end-to-end creation/design, development and maintenance of Tableau dashboards, management of data assets, migration of reports to Tableau, writing queries and scripts and collaborating with stakeholders to validate data and maintain quality assurance, ultimate to assure the accuracy and reliability of all data reports and dashboards.

What you will do

  • Design, develop and maintain advanced Tableau dashboards to visualize and analyze data, providing actionable insights to stakeholders;
  • Manage tableau data assets within AWS environments, ensuring effective integration and alignment with data governance and engineering practices;
  • Oversee the tableau server performance, managing user access, optimizing performance, and ensuring the security and integrity of dashboards and data sources;
  • Migrate existing Excel reports to Tableau, e ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data representation while enhancing data visualization and report functionality;
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and Python scripts for robust data manipulation and analysis across various source systems within AWS;
  • Collaborate with the stakeholders to understand business requirements and provide data-driven insights;
  • Navigate and excel in environments with limited documentation using a strong problem-solving skills and initiative to understand and manage complex data systems and processes;
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Management, Engineering, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on data strategies and initiatives;
  • Conduct rigorous data validation and quality assurance to uphold the accuracy and reliability of all data reports and dashboards;
  • Facilitate training sessions and provide technical support to team members and clients on Tableau usage and data analytics best practices.

What you will bring

  • The education. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in data science, computer Science, information technology, or related field.
  • The experience. Minimum of 8 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field. Hands on experience with cloud platforms including AWS for data pipeline and infrastructure management unfamiliarity with data governance principles. Experience with tableau server administration, including user management performance tuning and security best practices, complemented by a strong foundation in dashboard development and data analytics. Prior experience in the insurance industry and knowledge of industry specific data is considered a strong asset
  • The skills. Demonstrated expertise in Tableau, SQL, and Python, with a proven track record of developing complex data visualizations and analyses. Proven capability to work effectively within cross functional pods adopting agile methodologies to ensure rapid and iterative development of business intelligence schools and reporting solutions. Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
