About the team: Elsevier’s Global Strategic Networks (GSN) team is focused on building and nurturing relationships with influential stakeholders in academia, industry, and government. Their primary purpose is to collaborate on initiatives that advance scientific research, foster innovation, and promote the dissemination of knowledge globally. The GSN team engages in strategic partnerships, often aimed at supporting researchers, academic institutions, and policymakers in leveraging data and insights to address global challenges, enhance research capabilities, and strengthen the impact of scientific work. Key areas include facilitating access to information, promoting open science, supporting research assessment frameworks, and driving improvements in scientific communication and impact.

About the role:  Provide operational leadership and analytical data driven support for Elsevier’s Global Strategic Networks (GSN) team detailed above. This is NOT the role for a Data Scientist.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining a broad network of relevant, influential individuals. Be the voice of the academic leaders, customers, researchers and funders inside Elsevier
  • Showcasing how Elsevier improves research performance and supports societal impact
  • Influencing global scholarly communication discussion and policy
  • Supporting commercial goals and sustainable business models.
  • Researching and creating Data Driven overviews of the academic and research institutes with whom the (S)VPs interact including preparing individual profiles of appropriate people.
  • Using Scopus, SciVal and other Elsevier products: Provide research data and strategic data analysis for clients, and customer insights for conferences and meetings as requested.
  • Supporting the strategic projects Elsevier undertakes with individual research institutes as well as consortia of institutes through pro-active project management.
  • Facilitating knowledge sharing across GSN and RN and other business units as appropriate; this could involve supporting projects, regular meetings or other activities
  • Developing travel schedules; and accompanying (S)VPs on key meetings upon invitation.
  • Preparing visual presentations, writing speeches and speaking notes, including preparing visual presentations and making them accessible to the whole of GSN
  • Assessing trends and changes in the university and academic research communities; and in government policies through specialized literature review, media and social media tracking, etc.
  • Overseeing / driving annual strategic planning process and compile inputs from GSN team
  • Maintaining and monitoring budget expenditure reporting
  • Create and maintain archive of presentations for Elsevier leadership engagements
  • Soliciting input and set agenda for monthly team meetings and US regional meetings (together with GSN SVP)
  • Providing tactical support for network contact maintenance through Sales Force or other designated mechanism
  • Compiling responses for monthly or quarterly reporting; ad hoc requests
  • Maintaining event calendar in conjunction with Elsevier marketing
  • Coordinating activities of GSN Associate team across APAC, UK, and EU

Requirements

  • Present as a junior level executive with extensive Data Analysis skills.
  • Ability to analyze, manipulate and present complex Data Driven Solutions.  
  • Possess a high comfort level with statistics data and data visualization software. Be able to give examples of your utilization of this.
  • Have an aptitude for project management; a strong initiative and desire to learn; ability to be an effective team player who can collaborate with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadline-driven projects; a willingness to undertake a demanding and fast-paced opportunity to enhance research via the lens of a world-leading corporate organization such as Elsevier.
  • Ability to thrive in a global analytics company supporting senior people to interact with world leaders of universities and research.

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for NYC:$62,500.00 - $104,200.00
