The Oncology Clinical Data Quality Lead supports the department by providing clinical quality oversight on chart abstraction for numerous studies in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry. This person is responsible for providing electronic medical record review, chart abstraction and quality control processes/review. In addition, this position will be proactive in reviewing the chart abstraction activities including the data collection requirements process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and answer questions from the chart abstractors
  • Ensure EHR data is clinically relevant in the abstraction tool (Open Clinical)
  • Understand and review SAP/Protocol with Research Scientist and provide insight into chart abstraction/clinical variables as needed
  • Test and review electronic case report form with Clinical Database Specialist to ensure consistency
  • Quality review and assurance of chart abstraction data integrity
  • Review and respond to Quality Control queries to ensure data is accurate
  • Actively perform and help coordinate chart abstraction activities throughout the study cycle i.e. education for vendor
  • Provides insight and suggestions to improve the data quality control and abstraction process
  • Define complexity/variables of chart abstraction during proposal phase for pricing
  • Define and execute towards chart abstraction completion dates
  • Be accountable for the deliverable due dates
  • Understand the financial impacts of timeline delays
  • Develop strong relationships with Physician Investigators, Research Scientists, Biostatisticians, Clinical Database Specialists
  • Training and/or onboarding of chart abstractors on data abstraction for studies

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

 

Education/Training

  • RN license/BSN preferred
  • Must have 4-year degree in Healthcare, Life Science, or Nursing

Critical Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in the community oncology setting with several years of chart abstraction experience
  • Must have several years of experience working in a community/clinical oncology setting alongside physicians and oncologists with the ability to communicate complex patient chart information (i.e. disease and/or tumor progression)
  • In-depth understanding, competency, and knowledge of oncology diseases and processes and clinical research
  • Detail oriented and possesses technical expertise (e.g. Open Clinical, EHR data, EPIC, Cerner etc.)
  • Ability to interact with, and present to, senior level researchers, physicians, external clients, and interna;/external leadership team members and share expertise and knowledge
  • Superb interpersonal skills and collaborative management style. Excellent people and project management skills

 

Additional Skills

  • Strong understanding of clinical oncology and EHR/patient records
  • Clinical trial experience or data capture a plus

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$86,300 - $143,800
