Commbank.Data is the emerging Cloud data platform solution consisting of AWS native services and capabilities that ingests data from multiple source systems and executes business use cases for AI, advanced analytics (machine learning) at scale, across the comprehensive dataset and facilitates data discovery by advanced analytics users.

The Data Platform Green Field crew is accountable and responsible for the platform’s availability, performance, security and lifecycle management.

We're looking for talented Platform Engineer, who thrive in a challenging environment and are curious and tenacious when it comes to solving problems, be they technical or data related.

To be successful in this role, some of the broad roles and responsibilities may include:

• Understanding customer needs and non-functional requirements, and design and implement end-to-end solutions to address them.

• Evaluate, design and implement new tools and services.

• Develop system tools and reports. Identify opportunity to automate system processes.

• Monitoring system performance, performance tuning and implement solutions and ensure SLAs are met.

• Support customer requests related to platform technical implementation and capabilities. Respond to incidents/problems and perform root cause analysis.

• Proactively identify and develop solutions to mitigate platform risks against system failure, data loss, inappropriate disclosure or use of data, malicious attacks etc.

• On going environment expansion and life cycle management, e.g. system upgrades, security patching

• Document system configuration and standard operating procedures

• Adhere to our coding standards and change management processes to ensure solutions are delivered with high quality and low risk.

• Ensure solutions are compliant with the Bank’s security requirements and within our risk appetite.

We’re interested in hearing from people who possess the following:

• Strong experience in building & packaging enterprise applications into Docker containers.

• Strong experience in CI/CD tools (e.g Git/GitHub, TeamCity, Artifactory, Jenkins, etc.)

• Strong experience in designing, coding, and deploying scalable applications based on micro-services, Python, REST APIs, SQL

• Cloud Experience in AWS (EKS/ECS, CloudFormation)

• Experience in automating repetitive tasks using Ansible, shell scripting, etc.

• Experience in basic and advanced terminal commands in Linux

Also good to have:

• Experience with multiple databases, warehouses and data lakes

• Experience with Big Data and NoSQL technologies

• Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI

• Good understanding of database concepts, SQL

• Experience in writing migration scripts in Python  

• Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as telnet, tracert, netstat

• Experience with observability tools such as Data Dog, Splunk, Sumo Logic

• Basic understanding of Kubernetes networking
