Quandela is seeking a full-time research scientist to develop models and classical simulation techniques for quantum photonic and spin-photonic devices. You will be working in the Quantum Theory team based at Quandela's headquarters in Massy (30-minute commuter train ride from central Paris).

The main objectives are to produce high-quality research in the fields of quantum optics and computational physics for solid-state quantum photonic devices used in quantum computing and quantum communication protocols. This theory role will also involve close interactions with our hardware team to refine models and our software team to integrate simulations into software packages.

You will be part of a dynamic and rapidly growing team, with strong opportunity to be involved in all aspects of its research, with input in its research agendas, hiring campaigns, developing collaborations with partner academic groups, and supervision possibilities.

Main Tasks

  • Undertake high-quality original research
  • Publications in leading international journals and conferences
  • Collaboration with Quandela’s hardware and software teams, as well as partner academic groups

Requirements

Skills and Profile

  • Doctorate in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline
  • Proven track-record of high-quality research in at least one of: photonics, quantum optics, solid-state physics, spin physics, open quantum systems, quantum control, computational physics, computer science
  • Coding experience especially with Python (e.g. NumPy, SciPy, QuTiP) is necessary
  • Experience with Wolfram Mathematica is advantageous
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively both independently and within teams
