All About You
We are seeking a highly motivated Computer Science Research Scientist to join our team and work part-time (up to 30 hours/week) on developing advanced multimodal localization networked systems capable of operating reliably in both indoor and outdoor environments using emerging technologies such as OpenRadio Access Networks (ORAN), 5G signals, Camera, LiDAR, and smart access points equipped with multimodal antennas. The solutions to be developed have the potential to transform multiple geospatial applications, from autonomous driving to mobile healthcare, by overcoming the limitations of current localization techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and implementation of algorithmic and system solutions for multimodal localization in Wireless systems, e.g. 5G and beyond.
Develop and test algorithms that integrate data from multiple modalities (e.g., 5G, WiFi, LiDAR, Camera) to improve localization accuracy in complex scenarios.
Prototype multimodal localization solutions on various platforms, such as smartphones, precision agriculture sensors, and 5G radios.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate system performance under real-world conditions.
Contribute to the preparation of publications, technical reports, and project presentations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in computer networks, localization systems is highly desirable.
Proficiency in data science techniques is desirable.
Familiarity with 5G, ORAN architectures, or with computer vision-based localization is a plus.
Proficiency in Python or C++ is required.
Working knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and simulation tools (e.g., ns-3) is preferred.
Understanding of 5G network functions and standards, such as the 3GPP Location Management Function (LMF), is desirable.
Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
MS in Computer Science or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Computer Science or a related field is a plus (ABD are acceptable).
This position is being funded by a TGI seed grant, therefore continuation in this position is contingent upon funding availability or anticipated to end on 12/31/25.
