Job Overview
The Senior, Project Management is an Agile-savvy and technically-strong professional responsible for development projects. Their primary mission is to own and manage the planning, execution, and delivery. As part of a team-oriented, technical organization, they are an excellent communicator who partners with producers, developers, operations, QA, and project/program and domain management to ensure successful project execution.
What You Will Do
- Take ownership of complex projects or multiple projects, overseeing all related activities and ensuring the execution and final delivery of the project product.
- Create the road map for the project, manage the plan, make necessary changes, and effectively communicate status and issues to the team, the PMO, and domain management.
- Remove blockers efficiently and escalate issues and risks with an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Use existing standards and processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive the change management processes.
- Facilitate planning, communication, negotiation, and self-management within the team.
- Act as Iteration Manager, managing and administering the iteration lifecycle, backlog, and story cards in VersionOne.
- Ensure the completion of project audit controls and closeout activities.
- Onboard and coach other project managers in processes, issue resolution, and audit controls.
- Actively learn, exploring areas and skills that will help macys.com continue to grow and innovate.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and communicate lessons learned to appropriate groups.
Skills You Will Need
Agile Proficiency: Strong understanding and application of Agile methodologies.
Technical Expertise: Solid technical background, particularly in development projects, with a preference for experience in retail/ecommerce.
Project Management: Ability to manage complex projects or multiple projects, overseeing all related activities and ensuring successful execution and delivery.
Roadmap and Planning: Skilled in creating project roadmaps, managing plans, making necessary adjustments, and effectively communicating status and issues to relevant stakeholders.
Change Management: Drive and manage change management processes.
Facilitation: Excellent facilitation skills, capable of planning, communication, negotiation, and promoting self-management within the team.
Software Development Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the software development lifecycle, QA, and test methodologies and processes, with experience in all phases of the software development life cycle.
Communication Skills: Practice open and continuous communication, effectively presenting information clearly and concisely.
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at multiple levels.
Creative and Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically.
Certifications: PMI or CSM certification is helpful but not required.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- 6+ years managing enterprise-level software development projects from initiation through completion, ideally ecommerce initiatives. 4+ years of experience managing software development efforts using Agile (Scrum, XP, lean, etc.).
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
