We are looking for a motivated Data Engineer with hands-on experience using the Databricks platform to join our collaborative team of six, led by the Head of Data & Analytics. About the Role
As a Data Engineer on our team, you’ll work hands-on across all parts of the data engineering lifecycle, from data ingestion to transformation and optimization. You’ll have the freedom to explore and optimize all areas of our data pipeline, ensuring end-to-end quality, efficiency, and innovation in everything we deliver.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines on the Databricks platform.
- Collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet our business’s needs.
- Be empowered to proactively address technical challenges and help us stay on the cutting edge of data engineering best practices.
- Have the opportunity to dive into AI/ML projects, with mentoring and support available to expand your expertise.
Requirements
What You Will Need
We’re looking for a data engineer who brings:
- Experience working with Databricks and a strong understanding of lakehouse architecture
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark, with a strong ability to write efficient, clean, and optimized code.
- A collaborative spirit and the drive to work in a high-tempo, agile team where adaptability is key.
- Curiosity and a desire to grow in the data engineering field; experience or interest in AI/ML is a big plus.
Technical Competencies:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in data engineering or data science.
- Core Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and intermediate knowledge of Python.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Databricks.
- Familiarity with Medallion architecture.
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficient in Git version control and data modeling techniques (e.g., Kimball/Star schema).
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processing.
- Certifications (optional but desirable):
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional/Associate.
- Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark.
- Databricks Certified Machine Learning Associate/Professional.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Tools:
- Experience with PySpark for advanced data processing.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts.
- Knowledge of Delta Live Tables and Workflows for managing data pipelines.
- Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud Services experience.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs for integration.
