Reporting to the Leader, Data Engineering - the Data Engineering Intern will play a supporting role in the fulfillment of data requirements, leading value-add analytics and insights that contribute to business efficiencies and growth. Supporting the Senior Data Engineering Developers, the opportunity will provide further technical development and programming skills, gaining experience working with large datasets, various on-prem and cloud technologies and contributing to Interac's mission of powering and enhancing the digital economy in Canada.
You’ll be responsible for:
Working with internal data and analytics consumers to deliver data from source to target
Monitoring and addressing the data quality issues
Building, automating and/or deploying internal tools to solve problems or improve processes
Generating new ideas, challenging the status quo, taking risks, supporting change, encouraging innovation, and solving problems creatively
Managing deliverables and timelines, negotiating with internal stakeholders to meet relevant project milestones.
Developing feature enhancements for data replication pipelines
Monitoring and driving remediation of data flow issues
Supporting the data pipelines jobs and aggregation executions
Documenting practices, processes and standard
Providing root cause analysis and reduction in data flow issues
Reporting impediments to stake holders
Updating and organizing documentation
You bring:
You are currently enrolled in a university or college program in a relevant discipline, like Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or similar field
Experience with programming and development skills (like SQL (any dialect), Python, Jira & Confluence)
Ability to articulate complex concepts to communication to written technical documentation
You have great time management and organization, by prioritizing and managing your time to meet deadlines
Have a since of curiosity and drive to identify opportunities to support internal processes
Have strong analytical and problem skills, to trouble shoot and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Confidence in your ability to communicate verbally in an impactful way
Comfortable with learning and working effectively either independently or with groups across different functions and levels.

Familiarity with Linux-based systems
Git Fundamentals
PySpark / Distributed Computing
Talend, AWS, Oracle
