Work with us towards a greener future

Climate change is a reality. As a mobility provider, we recognise our impact on the environment and are determined to play our part in contributing to sustainable solutions. And it’s so exciting – we’re well on our way on our journey towards full electrification. If you share our commitment for creating a positive environmental impact, then join us in our mission to advance towards a greener future.

Where You’ll Belong

Volvo Cars is committed to go fully electric by 2030 and mastering the battery is a key for us to succeed. Do you love to play with data and want to make a real impact on our electrification journey? Then you should join our small, but growing, team of Data Scientists at Traction Battery. We offer you a varied work with room to follow exciting threads in the data until the end. We will challenge you and expect you to do the same to bring out the best from each and one of us.

What You’ll Do

You will perform data analyses based on measurement data from test / field /customer vehicles to follow up on battery usage including battery degradation and quality related issues. The insights will be used to support development of battery systems including design both HW and SW components. An important part of the work is to develop mathematical models for prediction of battery behavior with special focus on battery ageing. You will also define requirements for data collection together with component owners and system architects. Your results will be used by many internal stakeholders within the company including R&D, but also teams working with quality, service, and aftermarket. You will also contribute to an increased usage of data driven development within the company in general and facilitate interactions with the rest of the data community in the company.

Your Competence

We see that you have a master’s degree in engineering, preferably within Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or similar with a couple of years of relevant experience. You will need skills in Python and scientific packages like NumPy, Pandas etc. and experience in building data pipelines, data transformation and data visualization. You share our passion for vehicle electrification and enjoy being part of a team. Your analytic ability, creativity and interaction with different teams create a great atmosphere for innovative solutions. You have a conceptual thinking, not afraid of taking vital actions when required. If you in addition have skills in any of below it is beneficial:

• Version control tools for collaborative development (Git)

• Familiarity with working on modern cloud-based environments

• AI/Machine learning and Databases (SQL)

• DevOps tools such as Kubernetes and Docker

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Tekton and ArgoCD

• BI tools like Power BI or similar.
