The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $172,000 - $237,000

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Data Strategy & Analytics position is responsible for leading a diverse team of more than 100 employees split across our service territory (NY, ME, and CT). The team is composed of internal employees at the levels of Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, Supervisors, Project & Program Managers, Analysts, as well as contractors (third parties). This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with our business goals and enhances our operational efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of data management, analytics, and the energy sector.

The team is split into 3 different groups with a wide range of responsibilities, and they are expected to lead these processes across all the Operating Companies. Below is a list of the six groups and the main responsibilities under each one of them:

  • Data Strategy, Governance, and Processes: Lead data capturing and data sharing related projects. Responsible for performing GIS (Geographical information systems) edits and maintaining the asset database for all Operating Companies. Maintain and edit asset records in SAP, including unitization tasks. Establish processes and governance to improve overall data quality.

  • Data Analytics: Consolidation of electric operational performance: reports reliability KPIs for all OpCos, collects and monitors electric data, produces relevant analysis to drive better operational decisions by the OpCos, provides performance input to system planning. Supports field operations on identifying operational risks and opportunities and on creating action plans to improve operational performance. Provides data support to MROs and field operations in general. Accountable for the further development of the company’s data retention for operational performance and historic reporting capabilities, data mining capabilities, to complete complex analysis and reporting. Report operational data and analysis to regulators as necessary.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and Implement Data Strategy: Design and execute a data strategy that supports the company’s objectives, including data governance, data quality, and data integration.

  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Data Analytics: Lead the development of advanced analytics and business intelligence capabilities to drive insights and support decision-making.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, in Corporate and Networks areas, to identify data needs and opportunities for improvement.

  • Technology Integration: Oversee the integration of data management tools and technologies to enhance data accessibility and usability.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of data initiatives and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate data strategy and insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders to drive alignment and support.

  • Lead Grid Model Enhancement Project

  • Lead IEDR Project

  • Define GIS & Data Quality

  • Support and lead the execution of Critical projects involving data needs.

  • Accountable for monitoring the operational performance of each OpCo.

  • Reliability tracking and consolidation, daily, monthly, and annually.

  • Reliability approach with Regulatory departments and Planning.

  • Data analysis for operation and investment planning as well as support to regulatory strategies.

  • Storm reports and restoration KPI’s.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required Education: 

  • Bachelors/Engineering degree in a related business or technical field. 

  • MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous experience in people management.

Required Experience:

  • Data management, analytics, or a related field, preferably within the energy sector.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to data management and privacy.

  • Languages: English. Spanish preferred.
