Your Team
The Financial Crimes Technology team is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the Group’s financial crimes technology platform, including Customer Master Data management.
Our platform’s purpose is to support the Groups Financial Crime Compliance and Operations teams, and their value proposition of providing world class prevention and detection of Financial Crime to safeguard CBA and the wider community.
We aim to achieve our purpose through continually delivering cutting edge technology to enable detection, response and prevention of financial crime to be a better bank for the community.
The Group has a community expectation and regulatory obligation to effectively combat financial crimes.
Your role
The Senior Data Architect is a key role focused on defining and implementing a data journey aligned with the Financial Crimes Technology Team strategic objectives. This role is high impact, offering the opportunity to liaise with senior leaders and be involved in developing, implementing and supporting Technology at CBA. You will build strong working relationships with key business and technology stakeholders to deliver value through data.
The role involves building data products for various disparate service domains aligned to the Customer crew. These data products will help us provide better customer experiences, insights, and outcomes across our offerings. Ensure the data strategy and engineering foundations are set up for success, while following the best practices and standards for data management, governance, quality, and security. This role will help us comply with the regulatory requirements, enhance our customer relationships, and create value from our data assets.
As a Senior Data Architect, you will be heavily engineering focused, provide leadership to data engineers and laying the foundations for effective AWS based data platform. Enable building effective solutions that helps us manage problem in a systematic way, aligned to the data strategy of our organisation
Hands on experience and knowledge on AWS best practices and standards for data management, governance, quality, and security will be crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Develop (DA) processes including design and architecture, data modelling, metadata repository and change management in complex projects.
- Oversee (DA) project activities, ensuring that all activities are in compliance with existing strategies, standards and processes.
- Provide expertise in (DA) activities, systems and applications, including extract-transform-load (ETL), Reporting, DBMS and SQL (systems and tools) utilization.
- Well Versed with AWS or equivalent cloud platforms
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team. Ideally, your experience has seen you:
- Implement a Cloud Data Strategy with focus on best practices and foundations
- Experience in Delta Lakes, metadata management, Data Discovery, Streaming, and batch data processing
- Building and supporting Low latency data pipelines
- Working with semi-structured and structured data
- Demonstrate advanced skills in AWS services: AWS, AWS CloudFormation, EMR, Redshift, Data Zone, Lake Formation, Aurora, S3/Athena
- Utilising off the shelf ETL tools preferably Ab-Initio, AWS Glue
- Adding risk controls such as load assurance and storing in a database using an API
- Utilising Kafka/Stream ingestion
- Working with Hadoop / Teradata platform, using Spark/Pyspark and various ETL frameworks
- Displaying strong scripting knowledge in Java or Python
- Proficient in Terraform, AWS DevOps, Automation, CICD
- Able to use Airflow or similar orchestration tools
