The Model Development department is responsible for the development of risk models. We develop all credit risk, operational risk, IRRBB, trading risk, and economic capital models for ING. Model Development consists of over 250 highly specialized colleagues who are passionate about developing the best possible models to quantify the risk undertaken by ING. Our ambition is to redevelop all risk models for ING in the next few years. We are also developing new standards, systems, methods, and concepts along the way.
We are looking for a senior colleague in the Credit Risk Model Development/Retail&SME Cross-Model Analytics team. The team consists of approximately 8 model development experts and focuses on coordinating and executing overarching activities with regards to model lifecycle and model strategy for Retail&SME IRB and IFRS9 models. These models are core to the success of ING as our models are used to manage our SME and Retail lending activities.
Roles and responsibilities
You and your team have the responsibility that the overarching activities with regards to Retail&SME credit risk models are successfully managed. In particular you will focus on:
- Assessing model feedback for all credit risk Retail&SME models and defining improvement actions that need to be executed;
- Ensuring resolution of model-related issues, adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Performing analysis in response to requests from internal model validation function, internal and external audit and the regulator.
- Providing guidance to stakeholders on model lifecycle-related topics and related internal and external requirements
- Assessing the impact and playing a role in formulating an overarching model strategy of new/ changed regulations and market developments;
- Ensuring that model data requirements for the development and monitoring activities are clear, implemented and kept up to date in the organisation (in close cooperation together with the methodology and data teams);
How to succeed
- You have an academic degree (MSc or PhD), preferably in econometrics, physics, statistics, or mathematics
- You have good knowledge of Basel and IFRS 9 models and experience in developing expert-based or statistical credit risk models
- You have experience in using data modelling software/ or coding (C++, Java, Python, R and/or SAS)
- You are a sparring partner/advisor to Senior Management
- You have strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and execution skills
- You have a creative and pro-active mind-set
- You can challenge the status quo
- You are a team player
- You are fluent in English
