Position Overview


We are looking for a London-based or remote intern to work with us on machine learning research applied to design. We're passionate about making design tools to enable design exploration (inspiring alternative design solutions), design automation (reaching the finished design faster), and sustainable design (designing with less negative impact).  
 
In support of this, Autodesk Research is active in the wider research community.  We are a team of researchers, engineers, and industry domain experts, who collaborate with top academic & industry labs to combine the best of an academic environment with product-driven research. We have published at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, and other top-tier conferences, as well as producing cutting edge features for Autodesk’s suite of products.
 
Responsibilities

As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern in Autodesk's Research Engineering team, you'll apply and investigate advanced machine learning techniques to help our customers design a better, safer, more sustainable world.  The team works on projects that range from learning-based design systems, computer vision, graphics, robotics, human-computer interaction, sustainability, simulation, manufacturing, architectural design and construction.

 
Minimum Qualification

  • Full-time MSc or PhD student, with at least one academic term to complete

  • post-internship, in Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related field

  • Broad understanding of machine learning and deep learning concepts

  • Good software development skills, with experience in Python and machine

  • learning/deep learning libraries (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, etc.).

  • Experience with large generative models (transformers, diffusion models, etc.)

  • Interest in design (e.g. industrial or mechanical design)

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research and publishing results

  • Experience with distributed training

  • Experience with cloud compute platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).

  • Demonstrable programming abilities, e.g. contributions to open-source software or a substantial programming project. If available, please include or make a reference to this code example in your application

  • Experience with CAD
