PwC Actuarial and Risk Modelling Services (ARMS) team in Luxembourg is looking for a (Senior) Manager with Climate Risk & Scenario Analysis background to join our local actuarial practice of 20+ people, the largest actuarial consulting team in Luxembourg. In our dynamic and diverse team, you will work on complex problems and challenges related to climate risk and resilience. You will also become a part of larger global team working on the Sustainability topics,

 

Your mission: You will work in ARMS team on climate risk modelling projects for financial institutions as well as all other industries, with co-workers from different teams with diverse backgrounds, to give our clients the best practical solutions. Dependent on the project, you will either manage the project or do the analytical work yourself.

 

Be a part of our team where you will:

  • Support and drive a wide range of advisory assignments related to sustainability transformation matters where climate risk analysis and scenario modelling solutions are required.

  • Advise our clients on implementation of climate scenario analysis for TCFD, Swiss Climate Ordinance, CSRD, EU Taxonomy and ISSB to quantify financial impacts, develop transition plans to net zero, and to identify strategic options.

  • Leverage your climate modelling experience as well as knowledge of PwC's climate risk methodologies and broader service offerings in risk modelling to provide sustainable outcomes to banks, re/insurer, asset managers, and corporations.

  • Design probabilistic methodologies for integrating climate risks into various risk categories, including credit, market, liquidity, and operational risks through approaches such as qualitative and quantitative metrics as well as scenario analysis.

  • Communicate with various stakeholders, including clients, team members, and senior management to provide concise technical concepts and transforming complex models into clear business decisions.

  • Manage the consulting projects: hold the responsibility for the planning, deadlines, project team composition, communication with the external and internal clients, final deliverables.

 

Let’s talk about you. If you have …

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, etc. with relevant (degree / post-graduation) qualification/certification in Sustainability, Climate risk, Environmental science, or related field.

  • Six or more years of industry experience ideally with consulting services firm or with insurers, banks, or corporates.

  • Hands-on in numerical model development, including physical risk model development and integration into business processes. Experience with design of transition plans to net zero or data architectures for climate risk modelling is a plus.

  • Knowledge of climate regulations (e.g., TCFD, CSRD, Swiss Climate Ordinance, EU Taxonomy, including) and an understanding of the essential link between climate regulations and the quantification and implementation of climate scenario analysis.

  • Programming skills (e.g. R, Python, Power BI etc.) and you have experience with open-source modelling tools to perform climate scenario analysis and to translate into actual risk assessments.

  • Like to work in a practical and creative manner by constantly analysing and solving new challenges. You can effectively convey complex issues into clear and easy-to-understand oral or written presentations.

  • Capacity to deal with a wide diversity of situations, to build meaningful overviews as well as performing deep dives on technical matters.

  • A good command of the English language. French or German language is considered as an advantage.
