Knowledge gathered from raw data has become a valuable commodity in the digital world of financial services. Here at Northern Trust, to support and implement a data-driven strategy and drive continuous innovation in the Audit Services (AS) department, we are increasing our investment in our global Data Analytics (DA) team. Therefore, Northern Trust is seeking a Data Analytics Senior Consultant to apply their knowledge and experience in data and technology to enhance Audit Services’ ability to increase audit coverage and achieve operational efficiencies. This includes implementing technical capabilities including descriptive and predictive analytics, automation, and business intelligence. This candidate will collaborate with Audit Services teams, identifying opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of audits through leveraging data.
Responsibilities:
Develop an understanding of Audit Services’ Charter, Policy, and Methodology along with Business Units and associated risks.
Engage with Audit Services partners to translate business needs into insightful digital solutions.
Independently lead the delivery of ad hoc and customized analytics in support of global internal audits.
Champion the usage of data analytics on audits within the region, working with partners to encourage the application of data analytics to audit objectives.
Communicate analytics results and insights to end users in non – technical terminology.
Develop advanced business intelligence, allowing users to unlock insights across disparate data sources.
Support the implementation of complete Big Data solutions including data acquisition, storage, transformation, and analysis.
Exhibit strong attention to detail, ensuring data completeness and accuracy throughout the coding process.
Demonstrate an innovative mindset, identifying opportunities to generate increased coverage and assurance throughout the Internal Audit process.
Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Computer Science - or equivalent work experience.
Extensive experience working with data analytics solutions such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, Alteryx, ACL or equivalent.
Prior Internal Audit experience is preferred, though not required.
Critical thinking skills, demonstrating an ability to innovatively solve real world business problems.
The ability to articulate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-discipline and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, on a global team with frequent collaboration across time zones.
