Head of Digital Communications Technology and Platforms

As the Head of Digital Communications Technology and Platforms, you will be responsible for owning the transformation of our digital platforms, both internally and externally. This role requires a strong innovation mindset, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the communications landscape to identify both challenges and opportunities. You will drive the development, transformation, and maintenance of platform technologies that empower our teams to execute a flawless outstanding communications program.

Responsibilities:

  • Digital transformation: Build a future-ready digital communications platform ecosystem by integrating cutting-edge technologies, optimizing systems and processes, and fostering innovations such as AI.
  • Digital technology roadmap: Define and execute the corporate digital technology strategy, aligning it with Flutter’s reputation goals and growth objectives. Ensure a seamless, scalable digital channel ecosystem that supports both internal colleague engagement and external audience engagement, and reputation management.
  • Technical channel optimization: Deliver and oversee the technical development of our digital channels, including the intranet, our corporate website, digital asset management system and social media platforms, optimizing the UX/UI design.
  • Web maintenance: Oversee and maintain web Content Management Systems (CMS), serving as the bridge between the agency and the communications team to ensure optimal functionality and user experience; must possess a strong understanding of coding to manage technical aspects, troubleshoot issues, and provide support for content builds.
  • Technology innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and digital trends, identifying opportunities to leverage advanced technologies such as AI, ML, automation, and cloud solutions to enhance our communications strategy and operational efficiency.
  • Data-driven advisory: Leverage data analytics to design and implement systems that optimize internal and external communication platforms and strategies. Analyse user experience, feedback, and insights to enhance internal channel development. Support campaign performance measurement to drive continuous improvement across external channels and align with reputation goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with the Corporate Communications Leadership Team and specialists in colleague engagement, media relations, financial communications, digital communications, and marketing, along with stakeholders from teams such as Investor Relations and Sustainability, to address their technical communication needs. Lead digital transformation projects with key stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration and innovation across all communication platforms.
  • Team upskilling: Lead initiatives to upskill the team in digital technology, ensuring they are equipped with the latest tools and knowledge to excel in communications. Foster a culture of continuous learning, providing on the job training/guidance to enable the team to adapt to technological advancements and apply them to enhance communication efforts.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure that all digital platforms and solutions adhere to industry standards, legal regulations, and security protocols. Implement measures to mitigate digital risks.
  • Reputation Measurement: Develop and implement measurement frameworks in collaboration with the team to track digital and communication efforts, providing data-driven insights that support reputation management, enhance campaign effectiveness, and demonstrate communications value and Impact.
  • Group Tech alignment: Partner with Group Tech to develop internal channels and integrate successful innovations and upgrades, as well as aligning with their AI governance, and other policies.

Expertise: We’re looking for a highly analytical and entrepreneurial candidate with experience in a large-scale organization, preferably within (or closely connected to) a communications team or consultancy.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of digital platforms, web technologies, content management systems (CMS), APIs, cloud technologies, and enterprise-level IT systems.
  • Project management: Ability to manage and deliver specialized technology projects related to the aforementioned areas in a smooth and efficient way, providing mentorship on the vital resources and budget required for successful delivery.
  • Digital Marketing Acumen: Expertise in digital marketing strategies, including SEO, Programmatic, social media management and content marketing.
  • Reputation analytics: Experience with reputation analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, RepTrack, BrandWatch, Lead Forensics), data tools (e.g. PowerBI or equivalents, i.e., Google Data Studio, Apache Superset, Ubiq etc.) programming languages (e.g., Python) and technical tooling (e.g., Graphext, Quid).
  • Google Analytics/Website analytics: Proficient in utilising Google Analytics and/or other channels to monitor audience interactions with digital platforms. Skilled in analysing user journeys, identifying patterns in website traffic, and interpreting engagement metrics. Ability to derive actionable insights from Google Analytics data that advise targeted content strategies, optimise user experiences, and enhance overall digital performance.
  • Digital and Social Channel Integration: Proficient in integrating our website (hosted on Umbraco) with digital and social channels, such as LinkedIn, X etc. utilising tools like LinkedIn tracking and Lead Forensics to monitor a holistic audience journey, identify potential leads, and optimise digital marketing efforts for targeted outreach and conversion.
