You will use your data management and analysis skills and experience to improve efficiency and promote evidence based decision making built on good data analysis and communication. The analysis you provide will enable us to deliver an affordable fleet that maintains operational effectiveness and incident readiness and supports our legal and health & safety responsibilities.


You will also lead a data and digital transformation project, working with colleagues across the business to appraise options and implement a new fleet asset management system. You will need to work with external delivery partners, so the ability to build and maintain a working network of contacts is essential as are excellent communication and influencing skills. The team   Defra Group Fleet Services are an Environment Agency team that provide a wide range of fleet services to organisations within the Defra group. We manage around 30 contracts with service providers and suppliers, which in turn generates enormous amounts of data to manage. We are a dispersed team of supportive and motivated people, all focussed on achieving the outcomes set out in the fleet strategy. Experience/skills required   You will have knowledge management, data and analytical skills, be able to produce reports to agreed timescales and quality, with an eye for customer service. The ability to build working relationships with internal and external partners is essential. Your experience will demonstrate some the following:

The ability to analyse and present complex data in a way that gets across the story behind the evidence.

A passion for using digital solutions to increase productivity.

The ability to work collaboratively with leadership teams.

Identify solutions to problems in a simple, engaging way.

Organisational awareness and sensitivity which enables the delivery of a first class service.

Good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills.

Good planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales.

Experience of using the business intelligence tools available to us, such as the Microsoft Power Platform and the Qlik suite of programs. Contact and additional information   As part of a national team the location is flexible. You will be required to work in EA offices and attend national meetings, with some overnight stays. You'll understand and be comfortable with the challenges of remote working and management.

Competence 1   Asset Systems Management Description   Can you give an example of when you implemented a knowledge management solution in your organisation? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them to ensure the system was effectively adopted by your team? Competence 2   Data and Information Management Description   How have you approached the integration of new digital technologies with existing systems and processes in your organisation? Can you provide an example of how you managed this integration in a previous role? Competence 3   Customer and Partner Relations Description   Can you describe how you have made data and information useful and accessible for different stakeholders within an organization? What strategies have you used and how have you balanced customer need for data and information with competing priorities. If you are applying from the Civil Service please note that the Environment Agency is not a part of HM Civil Service and you would not be a Crown Servant in the event of being appointed. Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service.
