What's the Role?

We are looking for a seasoned product manager to lead our team focused on building machine learning infrastructure in the modeling space that powers our Search, Ads, Trust & Safety, and Recommendations systems.

As a Staff Product Manager, you will be responsible for developing a strategy and roadmap to build ML infrastructure that enables internal Etsy ML teams to build and serve machine learning models at scale as well as optimizing and creating efficiencies for the training and prototyping phases of the ML life cycle. You’ll need to build close relationships with our internal users across Etsy to develop a deep understanding of product gaps and challenges. This role has high impact potential and is essential to enable teams across Etsy to iterate and innovate in a space that is evolving quickly across the industry!

This is a full-time position reporting to the Product Lead, ML Enablement. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

We’re a fast-growing team with the goal of building tools and platform capabilities for scientists and engineers to run predictions with our model serving platform, train state of the art models, deploy machine learning models to production, and test hypotheses quickly. We support high visibility Machine Learning teams at Etsy including Search, Personalized Recommendations, Ads, Risk Decisioning etc.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Own, define and refine a product strategy that focuses on enabling ML practitioners across Etsy to iterate and innovate quickly and confidently on ML models.
• Own various aspects of squad operations, from quarterly planning to sprint planning, ensuring we are focusing on the most relevant business and customer problems with the best solutions.
• Integrate user research, market analysis, and customer feedback into product requirements to ensure products satisfy customer needs.
• Collaborate with other leaders on the ML Enablement team to ensure healthy team operations and dynamics that drive strong business impact.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 5+ years of technical Product Management or comparable experience, preferably with Machine Learning services or platforms.
• Technical problem solving experience and proficiency, including a basic understanding of data science and statistics.
• Highly motivated to help the team work with urgency and creativity to build clarity, resolve blockers, and drive impact.
• Experience partnering cross-functionally to identify the most meaningful unmet customer and business needs, and building platforms and other solutions that effectively address them.
• A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and values.
• Proficiency in SQL/BigQuery (preferred).
