How does this role contribute to our collective success? 

 

Within the Chief Underwriting Office, the Actuarial Pricing department is responsible for developing consistent pricing practices across the AXIS Insurance and Reinsurance segments. We are accountable for Technical Price Modelling, Transactional Pricing, Profitability Analyses, New Business Due Diligence, Business Planning, and Price Monitoring to influence underwriting strategies and portfolio management. 

 

As a Pricing & Analytics Actuary concentrated on Global Cyber and Professional Lines with subject premium $2.0B+, this role will directly advance AXIS’s capabilities toward pricing sophistication, portfolio optimization, and analytics-driven underwriting expertise. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Professional Lines Pricing and will lead on projects spanning the Global Cyber and PL product suites to improve technical pricing, portfolio composition, exposure management, and profitability benchmarking.  

 

 

What will you do in this role? 

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Directly support the Head Actuary for Global Professional Lines Pricing in implementing consistent pricing standards and portfolio analysis frameworks across the product sets 

  • Support the CUOs for Cyber and Professional Lines by contributing to initiatives on portfolio composition, risk appetite, and capacity allocation 

  • Coordinate reviews with Exposure Management and Underwriting to validate Cyber exposure data, review accumulation results, evaluate business impacts, and agree required actions 

  • Contribute Pricing perspective in discussions with Exposure Management View of Risk team and translate outputs into enhanced Pricing models. 

  • Work with Exposure Management to regularly monitor and evaluate the level of accumulation and clash within the overall Cyber portfolio. 

  • Conduct analyses of technical pricing data in partnership with the regional PL and Cyber pricing teams, to enable calibration of technical pricing models and enhanced premium adequacy benchmarking 

  • Lead in-depth actuarial profitability studies on individual classes as required, evaluating key performance drivers and portfolio trends 

  • Maintain and enhance gross portfolio models for use in internal planning and outwards reinsurance pricing analyses. 

  • Evaluate and recommend optimal outwards reinsurance structures and pricing. 

  • Assist with evaluating feasibility of third-party data partnerships for integration into the underwriting & pricing processes

Expectations: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, or a similar field which demonstrates an affinity and talent for quantitative analysis. 

  • Associate or Fellow of an accredited Actuarial Society, or commensurate experience. 

  • Experience utilizing SQL / VBA / R, Python, or similar to manipulate complex databases. 

  • Knowledge of technical price modelling and experience-based rating concepts 

  • Familiarity with Cyber coverages and accumulation models, and Management Liability and Errors & Omissions insurance products is a plus 

  • Growth mindset with ability to self-start own tasks and be proactive with thought leadership 

  • Desire to develop, recommend and implement new approaches
