Why we need you:

  • With that vision in mind, we are looking for a Senior Staff Autonomy Engineer to join our Avionics and Onboard Autonomy (AOA) Mission Management System (MMS) Flight Path Management team. • The goal of the Senior Staff Autonomy Engineer at Wisk is to develop flight software per DO-178C and its supplements to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the AOA MMS Flight Path Management team that designs and writes code via traditional hand-coding methods or with Matlab/Simulink products in a model-based development environment. Your mission is to work with peers to create certifiable flight software that enables fully autonomous operations of our aircraft. This software may include autonomous behavior management of the aircraft, trajectory and mission planning, and contingency management.
  • The successful candidate is responsible for developing and delivering the safety critical onboard autonomy software for Wisk’s uncrewed eVTOL aircraft. The successful candidate will have proven experience on full software lifecycle development governed by safety critical development processes per DO-178C and its supplements, DO-330 and DO-331.

What you will do:

  • You will take part in the development of flight software per DO-178C and its supplements with the full life cycle processes and activities.
  • You will support peer Autonomy Engineers, Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, and other disciplines.
  • You will help solve problems related to deployment and development of autonomy software in the UAM market.
  • In some areas, you will be working closely with Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • As a Senior Staff Autonomy Engineer, you will help define software processes and tools.

What you have done:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or relevant engineering discipline.
  • You have worked on various aerospace projects governed by DO-178C and its supplements.
  • You have hands-on experience with designing, developing, and integrating  autonomy software and requirements.
  • You have 10+ years overall of software development experience.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to manage tasks and projects that involve peers across multiple disciplines.

Desired:

  • Experience with any of the MathWorks Model-Based Development tools, i.e., MATLAB Simulink Requirements, Check, Coverage, Code Inspector, Test, Report Generator and/or Polyspace Bug Finder, Coder Prover.
  • Experience with developing software for autonomous systems or vehicles.
  • Proficient with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with industry standard tools such as Jira, Git, Google cloud base applications.

Who you are:

  • You are excited to solve difficult problems in the autonomy and aerospace realm in a collaborative team environment.
  • You are detail-oriented and can identify gaps or issues in technical solutions.
  • You have strong communication skills and are comfortable speaking to audiences with different technical backgrounds.
