The Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL) is responsible for research activities towards the definition and development of mobile network technologies and communication systems for vertical industries. AWTL has been engaging with multiple research and standardization activities, including participating to European Commission funded research projects of Horizon 2020 framework, contributing to industrial communication fora as 5G-AA, 5G-ACIA, transferring technologies to standardization bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, NGMN, and developing in-house experimental platforms, prototypes and proof of concepts on wireless and networking technologies. Recently, AWTL focus has shifted to next generation (6G) wireless networks and technologies, towards 2030.

Senior Research Engineer for Machine Learning in Wireless Networks (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Develop new machine learning algorithms for wireless communication and sensing systems, with possible applications to wireless channel estimation and prediction, (distributed) massive MIMO, PHY/MAC protocol learning, resource management, etc.
- Evaluate performance of new learning algorithms through experiments and simulations
- Actively participate in bilateral and international cooperation projects
- Write technical reports and research paper
Your areas of expertise
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning or a related discipline
- Experience with one or more state of art machine learning algorithms (e.g., transformers, diffusion models, graph neural networks, reinforcement learning)
- Solid knowledge of mobile communication systems
- Demonstrated programming skills in one of the major languages (if available, highly suggested to include link to own code repositories)
- Fluent in written and spoken English
