Required :

  • Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) and willingness to learn new languages as required
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, complete tasks independently and creatively, and adapt to new technologies and tools
  • Experience as a systems or network administrator of either a Windows or Linux environment

Desired :

  • Prior experience with systems or network administration projects, either through coursework or personal projects
  • Experience with technologies/domains such as :
    • Multiple Artificial Intelligence Domains (i.e., Machine Learning, Generative AI, etc)
    • Cloud Architecture, Development, and/or Administration
    • Computer, Automotive, and/or Network Forensics
    • Data Science & Data Visualization
    • RF Engineering & Signals processing
    • Scripting (i.e., Bash, Powershell, Python)
    • Vulnerability Research and/or Exploit Development

At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Systems/Network Administrator Summer Intern, a typical day will include the following duties:

  1. Performs technical tasks in support of engineering, information systems, or related technical operations.
  2. Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and test software applications, modules, and components.
  3. Assist in coding, debugging, and troubleshooting software issues to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance.
  4. Participate in software architecture discussions and contribute ideas for enhancing product functionality and usability.
  5. Conduct thorough research on emerging technologies, programming languages, and development tools to stay updated with industry trends.
  6. Work closely with senior developers and mentors to learn and apply software development methodologies and techniques.
  7. Support the team in various software development tasks, including version control, deployment, and testing.
  8. Participate in special projects as required.

    Education

      • Must be a currently enrolled full-time college student, at least returning for the Fall semester
      • Majors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other technical degree programs strongly preferred
      • 3.0 GPA+ preferred

      Clearance

      • Must be interested in and eligible to obtain a Top Secret US Government Clearance
      • Candidates with an existing clearance preferred
