Position Overview

Our Animal Health division is a trusted global leader in veterinary medicine, dedicated to the health and well-being of animals. Reporting to the Commercial Systems & Insights Manager, the Data Analyst is responsible for driving business insights from commercial data to support decision making. The role will drive the technical set up and maintenance of a cloud based data analytics platform, developing day to day operational analytics across multiple data sets ranging from sales, pricing, market data and further internal and external data sets. 

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Data Analyst will develop and coordinate new requirements for business insights through automated reports through Business Intelligence tools. The successful candidate will project manage the development of new reporting capabilities and be responsible for defining all data processes to enable the delivery of new data & business insights.

This role requires advanced knowledge of data and how to drive insights from raw data sets- working closely with the CS&I Manager, business leaders and account managers to enable the organisation to make informed business decisions through data insights. The role requires a strong understanding of the architectural components of a cloud based reporting suite and leveraging data outputs to create business insights.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead cloud based infrastructure build of analytics reporting suite
  • Design, develop strategy to maintain data pipelines to extract data from a variety of sources and populate data lake and data warehouse
  • Data curation and support in defining needs for automation of data ingestion.
  • Manage the delivery of Company and Product Performance level reporting through cloud based infrastructure
  • Collaborate with other Data Analysts, Data Scientists, to identify and transform data for ingestion, exploration, and modeling
  • Work with data governance team and implement data quality checks and maintain data catalogs.
  • Manage key data sources for data insights to ensure timely and accurate provision of sales and activity information across the company
  • Define Key Performance Indicators across various areas of the business (pricing, P&L, sales performance, market performance, CRM)
  • Manage business testing processes and validation of insights
  • Analysis and insight on key performance indicators to aid marketing decision making
  • Define reporting and analytics business strategy considering short to long term business needs
  • Develop end-users with training and support on multiple platforms and dashboards

Key Activities include but are not limited to: 

Analytics

  • Manage strategy and execution of ETLs and data pipeline to AWS cloud infrastructure working alongside regional and global I.T teams
  • Project manage delivery of cloud based reporting suite working across multiple teams and stakeholders locally and regionally
  • Drive data modelling  - understanding data requirements and structuring of data within cloud based infrastucture
  • Drive execution of new performance dashboards and improvement of existing tools that deliver insights
  • Monitor usage of our data and business reporting tools and provide training where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain system operating procedures and train colleagues to ensure adequate system support in relation to business KPIs
  • Ensure within Our Company Animal Health compliance framework and privacy requirements/ liaise with local and global teams to ensure data SOPs are adhered to
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to advise on learnings and best practice and optimise results.
  • Stewardship of timelines and quality of delivery.
  • Identify data trends and opportunities to automate business insights

Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of business analytics tools and systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud based analytics model (AWS,S3 & other data pipeline applications such as DataIku or Databricks)
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Previous experience working with reporting suites (such as Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI) will be advantageous
  • Extensive experience with data/ reporting and analytics
  • Experience in developing and launching sales performance dashboards
  • Confidence and experience with standard office applications including Microsoft Excel.
  • Good project management skills
  • High attention to detail and analytical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with good presentation skills.
  • Effective agency and third-party liaison and management.
