The opportunity:
As Head of Data at AIA NZ, you will lead data strategy, management, and governance, aligning it with the company’s vision and goals. Reporting to the CFO, you'll drive the implementation of AIA’s Data Strategy across the organization and influence at both Executive and Group levels.
You will oversee Data Governance, Data Strategy, Data Engineering, and Analytics, ensuring AIA’s data needs are met from technical expertise to analytics.
As part of the Finance Leadership Team, you will foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and high performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Shaping and leading AIA NZ’s Data Strategy, driving alignment and strategic direction across the organization.
Implementing data solutions that maximise the use of AIA NZ’s data assets and deliver value for our customers and the wider business.
Overseeing data management and governance to foster collaboration, solve business challenges, and eliminate duplication of efforts.
Enhancing data-driven decision-making through advanced analytics, automated reporting, and innovative tools.
Building a data-driven culture focused on business performance reporting and strategic decision-making.
Partnering with key executives (Chief Customer Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Product and Strategy Officer, Chief Partnership Distribution Officer) to deliver on AIA NZ’s Data Strategy.
Driving automation and optimization within the data function to boost organizational efficiency.
Providing strategic direction within Finance and organisation wide, as part of the Enterprise Leadership Team (ELT).
Leading AIA NZ’s Data Leadership team, overseeing senior leaders in Data Engineering, Analytics and Insights, and Data Governance.
Promoting cross-departmental collaboration within AIA NZ’s data communities.
Applying business and consumer insights to address challenges and create new opportunities.
Establishing risk management policies to identify and mitigate operational risks within AIA NZ’s risk appetite.
Offering expertise in data and analytics architecture, including cloud strategy, modern development practices, and dimensional modelling.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with a variety of data management, reporting, dashboard, visualization, and advanced analytics tools.
Strong relationship management abilities, with a track record of building deep connections internally and externally.
Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, with a collaborative approach to finding solutions that meet business needs.
Proven ability to interpret complex information and develop effective solutions to business challenges.
Extensive experience in senior analytical leadership roles.
In-depth knowledge of the insurance and/or financial services industry.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategy and strategic initiatives.
Strong conceptual and strategic thinking skills.
Solid understanding of processes, with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
Tertiary qualification in Finance or a Technology-related field (preferred).
Relevant certifications, such as CBIP, CDMP, SQL, Kimball, and/or Wherescape (advantageous).
Cloud architecture or solution certifications from public cloud providers (advantageous).
