The O&M Engineer - Data Analysis plays a pivotal role within the Offshore Commercial Operations business, embedded in the Technical Excellence department. This position reports directly to the Data Analysis Team Lead and supports the Offshore Commercial Operations Department on a global scale.

The Data Analysis team champions the significance of DATA as a catalyst for the company’s Digital Transformation. The team is currently spearheading a strategy that aims to establish a strong data culture, democratize information, enhance data utilization, and eliminate data-related obstacles to advanced analytics. As part of this strategy, you will be involved in Data Management projects that focus on consolidating and standardizing data, both structured and unstructured, ensuring its accessibility, quality, and trustworthiness. Additionally, you will work on Advanced Analytics and AI solutions to empower key decision-makers. The team is leading the development and implementation of innovative, data-driven solutions to improve the performance, reliability, maintainability, and integrity of our offshore portfolio. This is achieved through an agile philosophy and a strong digital mindset.

In this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including Technical and Commercial Asset Management, Site Operations, Global Technical, and IT Services, to maximize long-term asset value and production revenue. As a member of the global Technical Excellence department, you will be at the heart of the business’ Digital Transformation, actively engaging with peers across Europe, the UK, the US, and beyond.

What you’ll be doing

This role will support the Data Analysis Lead Engineer and participate in the following activities:

  • KPI Reporting Support and Executive Report Management: Assist in reporting KPIs to track and measure Offshore Wind Farms Performance. Manage, generate, and present ad-hoc, weekly, and monthly executive reports.
  • Interface with global counterparts to benchmark and support performance analysis across Iberdrola’s global portfolio of Renewable projects.
  • Support the preparation of yearly production and availability budgets.
  • Lead projects to consolidate and standardize data, both structured and unstructured, across the organization. Collaborate with IT Services for data consolidation and participate in the creation of ETL pipelines.
  • Contribute to the Data Governance model, ensuring data accessibility, quality, and trustworthiness. Resolve data quality and reliability issues as they arise.
  • Support and enhance the deployment and suitability of corporate Digital Tools.
  • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to identify main drivers for underperformance and revenue losses in Wind Farm and WTG Performance.
  • Support the analysis of operational data and maintenance records to understand main WTG reliability concerns and develop survivability models.
  • Analyse large datasets to extract valuable insights and provide data-driven recommendations that inform management decision-makers at all levels, for risk management, accessibility conditions, maintenance scheduling and production optimisation.
  • Support Commercial Asset management teams to monitor and validate Yield Warranty for wind farms in operation. Provide support to SMA negotiation and claims.
  • Develop and maintain Business Intelligence (BI) reports that distil complex data into user-friendly visualizations and insights for management, prioritizing simplicity and clarity.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of data-driven condition monitoring solutions, to support the Predictive Maintenance strategy of the Offshore business. Review regularly Asset Condition and Health and escalate issues and recommendations to Operations Engineering and Site personnel.
  • Act as a champion for change and promote a data-centric culture.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree in relevant Maths, Engineering, or Physical Science discipline is essential.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Significant analytical skills: collect and analyse information, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
  • Developed report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarize parameters and drivers impacting the scope of works.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages (Python, R, Quarto, Markdown, SQL)and BI tools (Power BI, Microstategy, Shiny, Streamlit) is essential.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and git repository services would be beneficial (GitHub).
  • Good knowledge of SCADA data and communication protocols.
  • Experience in SQL Database management.
  • Experience in Big data, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Algorithms.
  • Good knowledge of renewables industry is preferred, especially Wind Farm Operations.
  • Interest in new digital technologies.
  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas.
  • Foreign languages (Spanish, French, German) would be beneficial.
