System Test Planning and Automation Engineer (Fresh Graduate)

What a System Test Planning and Automation Engineer (Fresh Graduate) does at HP:

Lead Continuous Ecosystem Validation:

  • Develop and implement automated test cases for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Regular Product Introduction (RPI) programs.
  • Ensure compatibility with HP and third-party solutions through continuous testing.

Develop and Enhance Automated Tests:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of automation using tools such as GFriend and Testrail.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers (and other test partners) on test automation.

Develop and Maintain Dashboards and Automation Tools:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and automation tools in preparation for new laser printer programs.
  • Monitor and assess the performance and effectiveness of automation solutions.

Design and Deploy Automation Solutions:

  • Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions for various systems and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and document automation systems, providing support to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with management, internal, and outsourced testing and development partners.

Automate Testing Processes:

  • Automate testing processes using appropriate databases, tools and frameworks to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Experience in setting up test benches

Monitor Standards and Performance:

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to established coding standards, design guidelines, and best practices.
  • Monitor software performance and conduct load and stress testing to identify bottlenecks and performance issues.

Leverage AI and Machine Learning:

  • Apply AI and machine learning techniques to optimize testing processes and improve product quality.
  • Develop predictive models to identify potential defects and areas for improvement.

Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain test-related documentation, including test automation architecture and design. plans, test matrices, and testing reports.

Collaboration and Project Participation:

  • Develop understanding and relationships with internal and outsourced partners on test design and automation.
  • Participate as a member of project teams to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for laser printers.
  • Support priority test automation projects with direction, maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and sharing information via standardized reports and regular stand-up meetings.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Four-year Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 0-1 years of work experience, preferably in software quality assurance, test harnesses and QA focused tools, or a related field.
  • Good to have skills and knowledge: Agile Methodology, Application Programming Interface (API), Test Automation, CI/CD, Computer Science, Debugging, JIRA, Python (Programming Language), Scripting, Scrum (Software Development), Software Development, Software Engineering, Software Testing, SQL (Programming Language), Test Automation, Database Management.
  • Any certifications are a plus: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Lean Six Sigma Certification or equivalent quality certifications, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), Certified Software Quality Engineer, Certified Associate in Software Quality (CASQ), Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE).
